As more and more people grow hesitant to travel by plane because of concerns about the coronavirus, domestic and international fares have plummeted. Expedia is marketing a New York to Los Angeles round-trip flight for $142, which costs, on average, about $300 one-way. A Miami to Chicago flight is usually about $193, but Frontier Airlines is advertising a $67 round-trip ticket. Prices for international flights are also shockingly low: A round-trip fare from Boston to Barcelona is $196, compared to an average of $681.
It might seem tempting to snatch up these deals, if not for the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions warning to avoid nonessential travel for certain vulnerable populations, especially long plane trips, and crowded spaces, which is pretty much the definition of every airport. These precautions are extremely important to heed, especially for older and sick people as the outbreak continues, and the CDC has travel alerts for South Korea, China, Italy, Iran, and Japan places Americans are advised to avoid.

Bought round trip tickets for 2 for $300. That’s $75 each way.
Dallas-Orlando
This is for beginning of July.
They are not for us (Girlfriends son + wife). I wouldn’t fly if it was free.
“Spend a couple of hours in an airport with thousands of other people then a hours in a confided metal tube...no thanks.”
“And then have the prospect of being quarantined for 14 days if you have a fever when you get off the plane.”
And then after 14 days to cool your heels, you find out that everything you went to see is closed.

i don’t know ... if prices get cheap enough AND they provide each passenger with free hermetically sealed, disposable biohazard suits, it might be worth it ...
“These diseases tend to follow a bell curve. Massive exponential growth then peak then equally rapid decline.”
that APPEARS to be what’s happening in the PRC ...
Planes are safer then trains, buses, or cruise ships. The airlines are utilizing sub micron filters in their air filtration system.
Aim your personal air at your face and it displaces the air from around you. It is filtered and clean.
It would be nice for people to learn about what they are posting here before they post crap and lies.
We have a trip planned for August. Really hope it burns out by then.
The airlines will start with voluntary leave with no pay proposals. Then comes the furloughs.

Any links to that, as I’ve already seen bullshit regarding how cruise ships don’t recirculate air.

I made no comments about what the cruise lines were doing with their ventilation systems.
Seems like you are over or under medicated again.
My comment was about how airlines are dealing with and filtering the air they circulate.

So you CANNOT backup your claim regarding air filtering on aircraft. Sorry, but I don’t care if you were STUPID enough to lose your shirt on the obvious shutdown of travel (or not), but if you make a claim here, PLEASE back it up.
I’m looking for FAA Regulations or Airline announcements about how they protect against viruses, and BEFORE January 23, 2020.
If you have none, then sorry for your retirement.
They will pay you to visit Wuhan China.
Including a free rental car, hotel and meals.
With United’s flexibility I just booked. Round trip, Non-Stop through Rome. 5 tickets for $2,999.
Thanks, better than nothing, I guess. HEPAs are good to 0.3 micrometers, while Coronaviruses are about 0.12 micrometers (120 nanometers). So they will get bacteria and other single cell microbes, which are over 1 micrometer, but not nearly as many virus particles. Understandable - they’ve never had to deal with anything like Coronavirus in the past.
As to how they operate and recirculate air, that’s actually up to the airline. Back when I was in the business, we were putting in additional recirculation fans due to airline demand (less fresh air, less fuel burn). I don’t think it’s as bad now, or at least it’s not in the news as much (and perhaps there actually are regulations requiring the 50% fresh air as the article states...there weren’t before). I actually don’t know, but I sure as heck don’t want people here thinking it’s safe to fly with this virus bouncing around, unless we’re sure that’s true.
If I had anywhere I wanted to go, I’d do it now.
I just hate traveling, and prefer to drive myself so I have control.
I wish my daughter had waited two weeks to get her tickets to florida though.
It’s like the new joke about cruise ships, buy 4 days, get 30 days free.
Thanks for that, I’m going to tell my daughter to check her tickets and see if they qualify.

I’m thinkin’ if people are joining cruises while all this sh1t is going on, we should let them board and then torpedo the ship. Would cut down on the number of incredibly stupid people in the world.
I understand the crowds aren’t too bad this time of year.
