It’s common knowledge that top researchers take money from CCP under such umbrellas as ‘ten thousand talents program’.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-12-12/china-s-thousand-talents-program-finally-gets-the-u-s-s-attention

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/06/us/chinas-lavish-funds-lured-us-scientists-what-did-it-get-in-return.html

Academia would cease functioning tomorrow for lack of funds if it weren’t for CCP/PLA monies. No lie. It was bad 30 years ago, now it’s de rigeur to take those monies.

To then expect them to say something their masters object to is ludicrous.

You are obviously nowhere near STEM for a career or you’d know this.

Grad schools would shut down entirely (in STEM) for lack of money if it weren’t for the chicoms.

That you’re accusing me of libel is hysterical.

After all, for it to be libel, you’d have to admit there’s something wrong with taking money from CCP. Most of academia in STEM does so, especially at the top flight places. If it were wrong, ‘We’ wouldn’t allow it, would we?

Eh, I don't believe that's the case. Maybe at some schools. But not in the broad brush statement you are making.

And in undergrad STEM programs, CCP has minimal influence as a whole. Had a nephew graduate with dual Mech Eng/Aero Eng degrees. About 50% of his class was foreigners - but they have NO chance with US defense contractors. Contractors were throwing big money at US graduates to work for them.
