The government is useless and helpless. Their intent from the start is to let this run wild. NOTHING they said in the press conference indicates anything to change my mind. Not even sure why they do this shit show.
I haven't watched it yet (at work). But the government's intent is generally to stop the spread. They have failed for the most part but that doesn't prove mal-intent. In any case there's no unified intent. There are many people in the mix with different intents or competence.
My best guess is they are hoping to slow down spread until spring and let nature take care of it.
