Their aim is to slow the growth so the healthcare system isn’t overloaded, and treat the most vulnerable.
It’s possible they can succeed. Possible they won’t.
Hoping they know more and better than we do, but hard to do.

Pretty hard. It could be that they know it’s going to become endemic like the flu and they think this is the best solution for fortifying a nation against the future threats.
Whatever they know that we don’t, they will need to start telling us at some point.
