The reality of the situation is that there is little to do to stop this virus. There is no treatment and there are no mitigating factors—short of a complete lockdown. And there is no way to lockdown the US the way Xi did in China.

That said, the government puts on a happy face.

I honestly think Trump is more concerned and interested with the economic impact of this. His continual talking up of the market is tedious. Most of the market is falling because of the oil hit, but he seems to think it is Virus Panic.

I hope he is working on a post virus recovery plan. Because that is the only thing that is going to save him now.

A relative of mine works in the public school system. A kindergarten age student had high fever, went to clinic and was given strep culture and standard influenza screen. No mention of cv19 test.

At this point are they looking at contact history, travel destinations, etc?

Without a lot more information about the child and the school, it would make sense to think more about Chicken Pox than Coronavirus.

If the Dad worked at Biogen, or the Boston Long Wharf Marriott...I wouldn’t be too worried.

Man with ‘presumptive positive’ case of COVID-19 in Tarrant County identified as Episcopal rector in Fort Worth

...

The man with the first “presumptive positive” case of COVID-19 in Tarrant County has been identified as the rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth officials said Wednesday morning.

Rev. Dr. Robert Pace has been hospitalized in isolation, diocese officials said. His wife, who is also a reverend, has tested negative but is remaining in self-quarantine at home for 14 days.

He was tested Monday at a local hospital and admitted with pneumonia. He received the results around 5 p.m. Tuesday. His case is considered a presumptive positive until the CDC confirms it.

Pace spoke at the church’s Lenten program on March 4, which had about 45 people attend. The Tarrant County Public Health department has identified those who were at the service and plan to call them beginning Wednesday afternoon to discuss their health...

...He had gone to Kentucky to attend a conference of Episcopal parishes in Louisville from Feb. 19 through Feb. 22. A conference attendee later tested positive for the disease, but Pace said he did not knowingly have any contact with that person.

Concur. As of now no known cases of cv19 in our neck of the woods.

I have my daughter back from UNC Chapel Hill and her friend from Appalachian State and my son from ECU all over at my house for a couple of days. There have been no reports of any cases from those schools. So far, so good.
