FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Thousands of passengers on a third Princess Cruises ship are being kept on board while crew members get tested for COVID-19.
The Caribbean Princess, on a 10-day trip to the Panama Canal, was scheduled to dock in Grand Cayman on Monday. But the Çalifornia-based cruise line said it will keep passengers and crew from disembarking, and instead will pick up test kits after notifying the CDC that two crew members had transferred from a Princess ship in California where a guest had tested positive for COVID-19.
These crew members being tested are currently asymptomatic and are remaining alone in their rooms out of an abundance of caution as the ship returns to Fort Lauderdale, the company statement said.
The ship is under a no sail order from the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which will require it to remain at anchor off the coast of Florida until further notice, the statement said. It was originally scheduled to return to Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday.
It is unclear how many people have been on board the Florida-based ships. The cruise line said the Regal Princess has a capacity of 3,560 guests and the Caribbean Princess can carry more than 3,600 guests.

I don’t think that it’s panic-mongering or scare-mongering to say that the cruise industry is really screwed going forward. I know that people have short memories, but, man, it’s really hard to imagine these stories NOT having a huge negative impact on this business.
Somebody powerful must be shorting cruise line stocks
Note to self: Book Highly Discounted Cruises... NOW!
Okay...where is the dude that I told there would be another before the end of the month as we were discussing why I was thinking about cancelling my free Alaskan cruise.
You only had to wait a couple of days for my prediction to hit the wall.

How often has Princess management done this re bringing employees in from infected ships and then put them on a full ship?
Can this company survive? How about we pool money and buy a used boat and christen it Princess FReeper after a thorough cleaning? He wont be able to give their boats away.
My family discussed this over the weekend, you couldn’t give us free cruise tickets now.
80s Cruise left Fl over the weekend.
Fred from the B-52s smoked for years.
As did Lita Ford. And John Payne.
When a celeb succumbs the MSM is going into overdrive.
Bank on it.
You know, that’s not a bad idea. Only don’t make it one of these 5,000 capacity behemoth germ factories, like the one that made me spend a week in hospital after disembarking.
How about a smaller ship that accommodates a few hundred? Make it a conservative-themed ship where FReepers can choose from a variety of issue-focused seminars, rotate as they please, and be among fellow patriots.
No restrictions on bringing booze, unlimited Wiki provided, and I’ll have to get back to you about personal firearms.
A true conservative cruise ship....only why are we always being warned away from these advertised conservative cruises? Are they all run by Bill Kristol and National Review? Are their ships crewed by neocons?
The MS Free Republic could turn out to be huge. Food for thought.
Mark Steyn runs great cruises and I got my wife interested in going on one. Those plans are on hold now.
Royal Carribbean got pounded today, losing 25% a share.
Have all the quarintined cruise ships been from the Princess line? It seems like it. And it also seems like the crew are harder hit than the passengers. Is that right?
Where did these crew members come from???
