A physician's assistant who became New Jersey's first case of coronavirus has spoken out about the disease from his hospital bed and warns others to take the threat seriously.
James Cai, 32, fell ill last weekend while attending a medical conference at a hotel in Times Square.
He has been hospitalized since Tuesday at the Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey. So far, 13 people have been tested for COVID-19 in New Jersey. The other 11 cases have come back negative.
'Every day is getting worse,' Cai said Monday during an interview with CBS, adding that 'it happened so quick'.
'A lot of people say its OK, dont wear masks. I dont believe that,' Cai said.
Cai, who works and lives in Manhattan and Fort Lee, New Jersey, said the virus is not one to be taken lightly.
In New York, where Gov Andrew Cuomo recently declared a state of emergency, cases of the coronavirus have shot to 142.

PIERS MORGAN: Stop playing down the deadly threat of coronavirus, Mr President, and start telling Americans the truth - or it may cost you your presidency
“think he is higher risk because he is an Asian male..which may be why he is under the typical age of getting it.”
His risk is increased due to contact. Its social, not genetic. If one is in the midst of a lot of people with contact to China, including people traveling to and fro, ones risk is higher.
(Genetic aspect has not been determined).
You might be surprised at what I drive.
To say I am frugal is an understatement.
Thats called the prone position and it cuts the death risk in half if performed 14+ hours a day.
Why not get the flu shot?
I disagree with your assessment of the genetic component.
There is something at play here. BUt will take a long time out.
It would be interesting to know what Kind of jewish ancestry the guy in NYC has because he is a super spreader...whereas the guy from CPAC hasn’t even given it anyone yet including his 80 year old parent.
Iranians, Chinese, and Italians share a genetic code that causes blood disorders in the hemoglobin.
They could also share something else.
Jewish lawyer didnt look like a Mizrahi jew...which also have the genetic predispostion to the blood disorder.
Not saying the blood disorder has anything to do with it at all.
Just that they could share another imprint
Flu shot is dead virus...shingles, I think is live virus...I got Flu shot last couple years...no shingles shot...got very light case of shingles this past December. ..FWIW. I’M Retired
FTR I am also showing a few mild symptoms. Many possible explanations. Could be your run of the mill flu. It is that time of year. Could be I am just psyching myself out. Or it could be the bug. In any event I am coughing, aching and feeling flush as well as feeling crazy tired at the slightest exertion. So yeah, I’m gonna self isolate and see what happens. Not bothering with any tests for now. I am taking Naproxin and drinking water like a camel. And yeah, I’m also getting tired of the clowns pretending this is some kind of hoax or it’s no worse than the flu. We are probably 2-3 weeks behind most of Europe. My guess is that we have already passed the point of being able to contain this. All we can do now is hope for the best.
SHINGLES!!! OMG The only time I was in so much pain I was disappointed when they told me I wasn’t dying.
Did he test positive and then attend the conference? That’s the way the headline reads.
Holy moly,...this kind of thing I cannot deal with..so yes I must get the shot
strongly recommend Vitamin C and ZIcam. it helped knock out whatever I got last time a group coughed on me...but probably too late for zicam. you have to start right away.
Bummer! Either way, pretty sure youll get over it. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Above is an article on self-quarantine. My wife and I might have to do this. I’m going to have to read about 10 more of them though to get my confidence level up on proper procedures.
The link said something about sharing a living space. Something like “It is rare that Covid-19 is transferred by touching surfaces, but it is a good idea to keep them clean anyway.” !!!???
That was one of the findings to improve the mortality rate during ARDS treatment. Probably standard practice in the US.
And the extra coughing helps keep the lungs clear of mucus buildup...
She posted an article from NYPost - how is that fear mongering? You and your Flubros. band of deniers should take a tour of Italy, I hear its a nice time to go.
Pssst TrustFundBaby, the markets are melting, UP! More “margin calls”?
And the curve is leveling out on the WuhanFlu, so you will need to go buy another crisis to panic over.
They also have filthy public spaces, smoke like chimneys and have the largest Chinese air hub in the EU.
Psst..if ypu look at my posts yesterday...i posted from the former goldman sachs guy he was predicting that..as the futures were still down as they opened...look for the post..and then they reversed. He knows people..go figure
