It appears to me that the outbreak of the coronavirus is the fault of lax pathogen containment procedures on the part of the Chinese government at minimum. This is only a general theory that I've been able to piece together from various podcasts but it seems to make sense given the facts.

The Coronovirus or its immediate predecessor was CREATED in 2015 by an international project in which both the United Stated and China were participants. The head Chinese researcher whose name I have only heard and have not read (I am not very good at spelling Chinese names even in English, Dr. Hsu Jung Le is my closest approximation) synthesized a coronavirus/ SARS hybrid. Given how deadly it turned out to be, the United States government had the project shut down. It was not known what research Hsu possessed when the project was ended.

Apparently, Hsu ended up as a director a, where else but the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Recently two researchers were jailed for selling lab animals to the surrounding population. Also, China decided to upgrade the procedures regarding the handling of deadly pathogens in its virology labs.

So what this tells me is that China created a deadly virus, took it to Wuhan and that pathogen escaped due to China's negligence as illustrated by its lax pathogen protocols. The Chinese government knew about the outbreak in November because students at the University of Beijing were being infected. The Chinese knew about it and didn't tell the world for at least a month and a half.

right. i can imagine each higher layer of bureaucracy sitting on this a while trying to argue it away. heck I have worked for people and groups that handled things this way.

I will likely never factually know but I am satisfied this came out of their lab. vaccine research, something new, something cobbled together, who knows. we will never know.

now the delay between late December and the january quarantine is another matter. at that point they know they have it bad already. do they wait for late January travel pattern leaving to make sure the rest of the world gets a big dose? it worsens it domestically for them as well but presumably they are already sunk, just a matter of timing.

They knew about the problem in October ("Experimental bio-weapon escapes from lab"). Bureaucratic infighting, finger-pointing, "CYA", and wishful thinking paralyzed effective responses. They had containment plans by early December but just could not bring themselves to shut down their national economy right before the holidays.

They hesitated and were overtaken by events.
