There are six major muscles that move the eye. They are inner or outer ocular eye muscles.
One of them has a "palsy" which caused your eye to go out of alignment which is what caused the double vision.
People don't know this but your eyes don't see "single" images, your eyes each see separate images, its your brain that maps the images together.
When an eye goes out of alignment, the brain doesn't know how to put the image together since it's "different" from how it's used to mapping the two images together.
Sometimes the brain can compensate for slight mis-alignments, others not.
Sounds to me like yours is temporary and will likely resolve itself.
If your eye doc hasn't recommended vision therapy for you (yes, that's a real thing) you should ask about it.

BTW: YES, I've had that happen to me. I've had two eye surgeries on my right eye to correct an outer eye muscle palsy, that I had since I was a child.

Hey man, we need you! The planet needs you! God needs you. You gotta take care of this stuff. Don’t want toes falling off or fingers turning green. You need control because your kidneys may rebel and give you the finger. Truly, you matter. So, please take care of yourself. Insulin - oral meds - whatever it takes. There are still too many morons in the world to make fun of. You lead us and teach us how to hone our techniques while utilizing a cat laser pointer.

I was released from the hospital last Sat. after a 16 day stay for a surgery, then I had a stroke and then they could not get my bp under control. Hope I can get financial assistance so I can get some physical therapy.

God of light and all goodness, we pray for our brother Lazmataz and pray that you guide the hands of the doctors and those who care for Him. For Laz we pray for resolve for him to address those things that cause diabetes from which he suffers. Amen!
