I got the ethanol. Isopropyl has the same effect on the virus - both are good.
From the CDC:
“Swallowing alcohol-based hand sanitizers can cause alcohol poisoning.
Why? Ethyl alcohol (ethanol)-based hand sanitizers are safe when used as directed, but they can cause alcohol poisoning if a person swallows more than a couple of mouthfuls.”
Ethyl alcohol forms an azeotrope with water. The highest percent you can get with distillation techniques is somwhere around 95%. To get a higher percent ethyl alcohol you have to use other solvents to ‘dry it out’. Those solvents aren’t usually great things to have, even if they’re just on your skin.
