2 corona virus deaths in Florida
No news as to how these people weren’t even reported to having it only that they died. So much for transparency from governor Desantis. Former gov. Rick Scott would be dealing with this far better.
Just saw Rick Scott on Fox - he says they need to be more transparent when presumptive cases appear and that underlying issues with those who die need to be aired so folks with similar risks can take extra precautions.
Most likely elderly people with other health problems?
If they then contracted pneumonia, and died, that would hardly rate as “news”.
But it should be clarified.
(For reference, we’ve had 18,000 deaths from regular flu this year, and 30 million infected.)
I guess we’re going to be getting the weekly Walter Kronkite Body Count now right up to the election to blame it on Trump.
They traveled internationally. I hate these people. Who, what, where, when..? What ever happened to the basics of journalism.
HIPPA will be the death of many of us.
— in other news, 14 died in Florida from car accidents this week.
It would be better if they reported the exact countries these two people had visited instead of saying the ‘generic international travel’.
Wonder if that pneumonia shot for people over 65 helps prevent some of the more serious effect of the virus? Got my shot 2 years ago.
My point exactly. No standard questions an amateur journalist should be asking state health officials.
And 10,000 people have died from the regular flu.
Exactly. “International travel” is not very specific...
LOL, HIPAA says “Not while I am active Senator Scott”.
Not thrilled with our governor’s lack of transparency to date. Scott is right, people need information to make smart choices.
Did they also talk about how many people in Chicago died of “lead poisoning” this week?
I’m sure people in Italy, Iran and even South Korea are comforted, that the corona virus deaths are miniscule compared to the deaths from the average flu, all while new cases are exploding in their countries...
It is perfectly okay, under HIPAA, to disclose the cause of death (and contributing factors) for unidentified patients.
Where you get in trouble is when you attach a name, ssn, street address, email, phone number, and etcetera, to that disclosure.
In this case that is all that is being released from the Florida Dept of Health. HIPPA laws make it difficult for Journalists to find out anything because Health workers will lose their jobs and can be prosecuted if they release any info.
Not that I like defending journalists, they are several levels below pond scum.
No. the pneumovax is for bacterial pneumonia
Don’t forget HITECH too.
