Tavis Smiley was found by a jury to have violated PBS morals clause, and the network will be awarded $1.486 million from a countersuit of its former host.
We are pleased with the jurys decision, a PBS spokesperson said in a statement. PBS expects our producing partners to provide a workplace where people feel safe and are treated with dignity and respect.
It was important for us to ensure that the courageous women who came forward were able to share their stories, and we continue to uphold the values and standards of our organization. With this jury verdict for PBS, companies now have another tool in their arsenal to ensure a safe and respectful workplace culture, said Grace Speights, PBS lead attorney. Especially in the entertainment industry, the enforcement of the morals clause in contracts hadnt been previously tested in courts. This decision could impact the next wave of litigation in the #MeToo movement.
PBS was seeking $1.9 million in returned salary.

Another smug, media jack@ss takes a hit.
In early 2018, his net worth was figured around 10-million, so this would sting a bit. He’ll survive. Maybe in three years, he’ll emerge on some radio network as a talk-show host.
PBS has values?
Pushing militant far left 60s politics??
Pushing homosexuality on children?
I don’t know.

Disgraced political pundit Mark Halperin says guys like him whove been canceled amid the #MeToo movement are treated worse than murderers.
The former MSNBC senior analyst who was fired in 2017 over a slew of sexual harassment allegations made the comment at a panel in San Francisco, according to Mother Jones.
Its akin to being a refugee, or being in some other situation where youre constantly under pressure and you cant stop to try to rebuild that kind of confidence and self-worth that is required, he said.
Halperin compared the effects of being canceled to having post-traumatic stress disorder and moaned that theres no way to reintegrate.
Murderers in our society who get out of prison are afforded an opportunity to go on with some aspect of their life, he said. The challenge to a lot of people who are canceled is theres no mechanism for that, regardless of what theyve done, regardless of whether theyve tried to make amends.
He added that hes spoken to other #Metoo outcasts who have committed a wide range of acts some nothing wrong at all.
In total, 14 women have accused Halperin of groping them and making other creepy unwanted sexual advances while he was the political director of ABC News between 1997 and 2007.
Since his firing, he last year managed to ink a new book deal about political strategy in the Trump era.
Some of the women claimed he rubbed his erection on them, grabbed their breasts and asked them for sex while in the powerful role.
The panel last week was staged by the public relations firm Upright Position Communications to discuss cancel culture, #MeToo, responsibility and reintegration into society and livelihoods, according to the outlet.

Also, Halperin’s new book bombed.........
Disgraced former NBC political analyst Mark Halperins new anti-Trump book sold just 502 copies in its debut week, according to NPD BookScan, which tracks about 85 percent of print sales.
How to Beat Trump: America’s Top Political Strategists On What It Will Take, which was released Oct. 29, compiles interviews from political strategists and journalists, including Democrats David Axelrod, Donna Brazile and James Carville.
MARK HALPERIN BOOK DEAL SPARKS OUTRAGE: SLAP IN THE FACE TO ALL THE WOMEN THAT HE HAS VICTIMIZED
Publisher Judith Regan told The New York Post she blamed a guilty-until-proven-innocent, cancel culture for the low sales and stressed that Halperin shouldnt be condemned to a lifetime of unemployment “for an accusation thats 12 years old.

“Hes tried to become a better person. He had a right to write it, and I have a right to publish it,” she added. “He really has changed.
The book was widely criticized when it was announced in August and many major news organizations have refused to do interviews with the author.
Halperin was fired from his contributor jobs at Showtime, NBC and MSNBC he was a frequent guest on “Morning Joe” after multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct, including allegedly grabbing former ABC coworkers breasts and pressing his clothed and erect penis against them.
He initially acknowledged he caused pain by pursuing inappropriate relationships with coworkers and in April he said he wanted to apologize again to the women that I mistreated, who told their stories, and who were hurt by me.”
PBS wouldn’t know morals if it were to bite them in the ass.
I think in the Halperin case...he muddied up his own situation in 2011....stating after a Presidential press conference....saying that Obama “came off kind as a d**k”. From that point on...he was carrying an anchor around and just waiting for some really stupid comment to sink the rest of his career.
Based on the numerous women who surfaced...Halperin seems to have been a one-star ‘Don Juan’ character with the ladies.
It’s possible after MSNBC fired Chris Mathews...that they might cut a low-pay angle with Halperin and team him up with someone for a one-shot deal at Mathews old hour.
Guess old Tavis isn’t as “Smiley” as he once was and it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving fellow.
Grabbing their boobs and begging for sex? Im pretty sure that wouldnt work on my wife.
I love when they eat their own.
And for having a silly first name.
No sympathy for Smiley, Halperin, and Matthews. In fact, SCREW them. POSs all of them. They havent been, and wont be missed for a second.
and a silly last name ...
Defund PBS/NPR.
My memory is struggling;( Who are those two guys?????????
I was thinking that as I typed it lol
Sounds like a bunch of leftists consuming themselves.
It just came to me!! LOL!! William Buckley;)
If you ever listened to Smiley you would have been treated to the most racism saturated person you could ever imagine. He and his “brother”, Cornell West, were unfailingly and appallingly grotesque in their dialogs.
Yes, William F Buckley is the first photo and Alistair Cooke (Masterpiece Theatre) is the second one.
