AUSTIN, Texas — Wendy Davis has won the Democratic nomination in Texas’ Congressional District 21. She will run against incumbent Chip Roy in the general election on Nov. 3 to determine who will represent the district in the U.S. House of Representatives.

AP called the race as Davis was ahead by a wide margin over her opponent, Jennie Lou Leeder.

Davis rose to fame after delivering a nearly 13-hour filibuster as a Texas State Senator in 2013. In 2014, Davis lost to Gov. Greg Abbott in Texas’ gubernatorial race.

Texas’ Congressional District 21 spans from Austin to San Antonio and covers Blanco and Gillespie counties.

According to Davis’ official campaign website, some of the issues she stands for include affordable healthcare for all Texans, common sense action regarding gun laws and reducing carbon emissions in the U.S.

More details on Davis’ policies can be found on her website.

Roy defeated Democrat Joseph Kopser in the 2018 general election. He filed for reelection in early December.

Brings back memories of when Ann Coulter was actually worth a damn....

because I believe Coulter was the one who came up with Abortion Barbie.

If the district covers Austin to San Antonio, I’m thinking it is very liberal?

It only covers part of Austin and the north central part of San Antonio. Also includes Fredricksburg, Kerrville, Boerne, New Braunfels, Kyle, San Marcos and all points in between. Counties covered are Real, Kerr, Bandera, Kendall, Blanco, Comal, Gillespie, and portions of Hays, Bexar and Travis.

This district was formerly safely Republican. No more, with it now reaching into Austin.
