He seems to have it bad too. I wonder if he was a driving commuter or riding commuter.

He took the train into the city to get to work. For how long, I have no idea.

More on the NY lawyer:
That patient, an attorney in his 50s, is in critical condition at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. The man has an underlying respiratory condition which made him more vulnerable to the virus, said Dr. Howard Zucker, commissioner of the New York State Department of Health.
The man has connections across New York. He works at the Lewis and Garbuz law firm in Manhattan and his family lives in suburban Westchester County. His 20-year-old son attends Yeshiva University in Manhattan and his 14-year-old daughter attends SAR Academy and High School in the Bronx.
Now the mans wife, son, daughter, and a neighbor who drove the sick man to the hospital are all infected with coronavirus, Cuomo said.
Thanks for posting—the article _nailed_ it.
Im afraid this Maryland situation is going to be a cluster.

LA County Public Health is making major announcements regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in LA County. Tune in to watch the press conference.

Just to be fair to Canada, they are asking folks who flew in from Iran to “self quarantine”.
How polite of them. ;-)
another underlying condition with no detail.
was he a smoker? asthmatic? or?
It seems to me every case we read about will have underlying condition involved if serious. underlying conditions sound worse than they probably are.
Being alive is an “underlying condition”. :-)
Many folks have minor conditions that may not warrant medical attention, but could become important if they get the coronavirus.
and most importantly, can be used in descriptions to make it sound like they are exceptions.
LA county Presser:
Local emergency declared
last 48 hours
6 cases confirmed in LA county..5 new
The minor ailments may not be in the medical records, or in some cases known to the patient themselves.
Data can be sloppy just because it is an attempt to describe a complex real world.
Someone commented under the video that they knew this last night and still let everyone get out to vote.
The emergency is that they are starting to test...
;-)
Austin in Phase 2 = investigative
Travis Co. test from yesterday is still pending.
Dr. Epscot (or something) Committee named to evaluate mass gatherings - churches, schools and spring events. They will not be closing SXSW because people will still travel here for it (huh?)and they won’t have the city structure for safety and remind them to.... wash their hands. This disease is bad but not as bad as Ebola. Mortality is .7% including China so is substantially less than that outside China.
Some woman - Do what your mama taught you to wash hands, cover coughs, stay calm and carry on.
Gay city council guy - SXSW will not be cancelled (singing Money, money, money, mon-eeeeeey). Most important thing to do is wash your hands, bow to one another or elbow bump.
Question session:
Holding large events like SXSW won’t increase risk. Wash your hands. Increase person to person distance. As crowds grow, distance decreases (DUH!!!). Even shutting down SXSW people will still come and there won’t be any hand sanitizers available for them. Cancelling large events will lead to job loss.
They may decrease numbers of people at certain venues to help with social distancing.
Infected individuals will be monitored. Dr. issues control order - you may not go out, blah, blah.
DHSH lab will be the lab to run and evaluate CV tests. (and Dr. coughs).
Public announcements can be issued when looking for tracing “if you were in X place at X time please contact us”.
Wash hands. Don’t go to work when sick.
Known prone compromised issues - nursing homes.
They have three sets of guidelines but didn’t explain it. Criteria has been loosened but sometimes travel history before accepting it might be CV.
Encouraging businesses, IT, to consider working at home.
The end.
