Exactly. Memorial Hermann would have to send their high-paying cancer patients (and no slight to MH, they are among the absolute best cancer centers in the world) swiftly packing home if everyone with a fever started crowding Houston ERs.
My local supermarket is totally normal so far. Dollar Store has plenty of hand sanitizer.
Costco customer mindset about this whole thing would make a great marketing study. I mean who buys a giant jar of minced garlic anyway? :)
It’s the response of China that tells me far more about the seriousness of the disease than any official statements they make.
I’m going to be prepared for the worst case scenario, and if it doesn’t happen, nothing lost and it didn’t hurt anyone else.
And if I catch it anyways, well, my life is in God’s hands and HE decides when my number is up. And I know where I’m going as I’ve made my peace with Him.
Nobody gets out of this life alive.
It’s just when and where and how. But I am still not taking any foolish chances.

Not to be be snarky but CDC numbers and evaluations don’t support the internet threads.....the CDC initial response is correct, severe quarantine as It is a unknown new virus of dubious origin compounded by the country of origin is cryptic regarding all numbers..... but they now are getting a better view of what the virus is, how it is transmitted and it’s lethality in modern developed western countries.....
Truly just trying to get a non-sensationalized, realistic view of the virus..... yes, it spreads quickly and it can be fatal to immune comprised and the elderly with other health issues, but nothing factual has supported the hyperbolic response by the general public....
The internet is always filled with doom and gloom forecasts....The fake news always runs “if it bleeds it leads” plus their political bias to harm President Trump.....

This is not a defense of the Seattle officials, but I expect that local officials are going to be under siege all over the place, and many will lose local elections over this.
This disease is not forgiving of human error—and we do not live in a zero defect world.
Don’t the NY subway stations have news stands and food places? He could have gone downstairs to one of those, I suppose, before or after work. And since he works near Grand Central Station, he could have frequented shops there, too.
