The county health chief has far more power than people realize.

They can order the quarantine of entire cities.

And law enforcement will follow their orders.

No due process. No appeal. No habeas corpus.

Thanks for the new thread.

The "Flue Bros" are going to be interesting to watch over the next couple of weeks.

We already have them rationalizing that the fatalities were people getting old and had a good life. Of course they follow by "what me worry?"

Waiting for the next step (if one) when the "Bros" become infected and pass it on to others who will then suffer severe symptoms.

Hey Gunner, how’s your day?

I spent my morning trying to teach noobs about the infectious nature of this beast.

You and I have had many years of discussion - and I’d like to ask you to read a blog of all things.

Would you please go to https://thefurai.com/2020/01/23/the-truth-about-wuhan-coronavirus/ and read it?

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.

“After voting tonight, I’m gonna make a trip to Wal-Mart and see just how bad it is in terms of panic buying.”

Don’t know where you are, but I was in Walmart last night and again today.

The same stock person was valiantly trying to fill shelves as people were, calmly, buying the stuff as fast as she could stock it. No Black Friday stampedes, riots or other mayhem.

You would have been able to get all the stuff on your list in my area. The only things in short supply are masks and hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer was in plentiful supply at the dollar store.

Like I said, their actions don’t quite match their words. I guess I was being generous with that statement. Is the failure to execute their stated policy because of incompetence, or is their true agenda different from their public one? That, I don’t know, and prefer not to speculate. I hope state and local public health officials and policies are better than the CDC’s so far, but I know some cities and states will see some incredible incompetence.

I don’t understand it, do these people not have people they love over the age of 65? I have three family members would likely not survive this. Just unconscionable.

NEW YORK

Coronavirus patient reportedly commuted on Metro-North
By David Meyer, Julia Marsh and Bruce Golding
March 3, 2020 | 4:58pm

The Manhattan lawyer hospitalized with coronavirus commuted regularly from his home in New Rochelle on the Metro-North Railroad, according to a report Tuesday.

But it’s unlikely that he used the city’s subway system because his office is within walking distance of Grand Central Terminal, ABC News said, citing a source familiar with the case.
