UK

HSBC today evacuated part of its UK headquarters after a worker tested positive for coronavirus in the first known case at the heart of London’s financial district.

Staff who came into contact with the analyst were told to work from home as the company’s research department underwent an urgent deep clean.

The office is in the centre of Canary Wharf, a major financial centre that hosts many investment banks, including Citi, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley and Barclays.

Evacuation flight canceled for foreign diplomats in North Korea

From CNN’s Will Ripley in Tokyo
Dozens of foreign diplomats who had been quarantined in Pyongyang, North Korea over coronavirus fears have been told their planned evacuation flight on Friday is canceled, a source inside the country told CNN’s Will Ripley.

The source agreed to speak on the condition of anonymity, given the extreme sensitivity of the current situation.

The source says Friday’s flight “was canceled by the Russians for unknown reasons.”

It’s unclear if — or when — a new flight will happen

By Laurence Dollimore (Digital Editor) -
5 Mar, 2020 @ 13:420

A 36-YEAR-OLD man has died from coronavirus five days after being given the all clear by doctors in China.

According to the South China Morning Post, Li Liang was admitted to hospital on February 12 before being released two weeks later.

But two days later he began suffering symptoms again and was sent back to the health centre on March 2 and died the same day from respiratory failure.

The death certificate issued by the Wuhan health commission lists COVID-19 as the direct cause of death, reported the South China Morning Post

That's absolutely irresponsible.

So, if you are just slightly sick or one of those people who "has to go to work" but can function at pretty high levels of illness (they exist) just go on infecting everyone.

My family was DEAD, DEAD sick with Swine Flu a few years back. I mean, SICK.

I got in the car, drove to get my small business packages out in USPS for the day and then drive to Fry's where I got medicine, ginger ale, etc.

I was careful, BTW, what I touched and stayed away from people. I didn't want to give anyone what I had.

A ton of people, with sh*tty, jobs will attempt to get to work because they need to or fear getting fired.

Bad, bad situation.

From the same link:
“ In what may be a second case, a patient at Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck is under observation and suspected of having the COVID-19, which causes the virus, hospital officials told NJ Advance Media on Thursday.

“A person is under investigation (at the hospital) for coronavirus,” said Jessica Griffin, a spokeswoman for Holy Name”

ITALY

Italy’s bishops on Thursday ordered that Masses not be held during the week in churches in areas of the north of the country affected by the coronavirus outbreak, a step believed to be unprecedented.

It was believed to be the first time such a draconian step had been taken in Italy, the European country worst hit so far by the coronavirus outbreak. Masses were not even cancelled when the plague struck Milan in the 17th century.

I knew of the Fort Bend (Texas) case brewing through personal contacts, but was hoping it was a false Alarm.

Don’t know if they’ve released details yet (initially, at least, they were holding it back due to ‘privacy’ - LOL), but the case is a guy (I think) that lives in Sugar Land. He went on a tour of the Middle East in January and got sick at some point. I also believe he’s Asian. Also, others are saying there was a group from Rice University on the tour with him.
