The New Corvette
email/facebook | 3/3/2020 | unknown

A man posted on his Facebook account the sports car that he had just bought and how a man approached and told him that the money used to buy this car could've fed thousands of less fortunate people ..... His response to this man was as follows:

READ his story as stated on Facebook below:

A guy looked at my Corvette the other day and said, "I wonder how many people could have been fed for the money that sports car cost?

I replied I'm not sure; it fed a lot of families in Bowling Green, Kentucky who built it, it fed the people who make the tires, it fed the people who made the components that went into it, it fed the people in the copper mine who mined the copper for the wires, it fed people in at Caterpillar who make the trucks that haul the copper ore. It fed the trucking people who hauled it from the plant to the dealer and fed the people working the dealership and their families. BUT,... I have to admit, I guess I really don’t know how many people it fed.

That is the difference between capitalism and the welfare mentality. When you buy something, you put money in people’s pockets and give them dignity for their skills. When you give someone something for nothing, you rob them of their dignity and self-worth. Capitalism is freely giving your money in exchange for something of value. Socialism is having the government take your money against your will and give it to someone else for doing nothing.

If you agree please send it to your friends. If you don't agree just delete it and have a nice day.

Around 1987 i bought my first stick as a 19 yr old.
It was a Beautiful looking gold 1980 Z-28 with T-Tops and a 4 speed manual.
bought it off a former teacher of mine, i had never driven a stick before but i new the basics.
When it was time to drive it home i found that it was very difficult to get it moving in 1st without stalling.
I was getting pretty frustrated but eventually got it moving.
a few miles down the street i pulled over to get some gas, the attendant came up to me and said “do you know that there is smoke pouring out of your back wheel wells?”
I got out of the car and i was like wtf?
Then i realized the the whole time i had the emergency brake on..
DUH!!!
My previous two Camaro’s were automatic transmissions and i rarely if ever used the emergency brake.
Really loved all 3 of those cars they were very Nice especially the silver 78 Z.
Then i went to a Supra Turbo 5-speed and never looked back..

It also fed a bunch of people in Detroit, like my buddy who worked on the design team for the last five years.

That was a great and truthful response. I’m afraid what I would have come up with off the cuff would have been more along the lines of the futility of what he was implying. That even if I took that money and fed a few thousand for a day, or a few hundred for a couple of weeks.... The next day or the next week they’d be hungry again. Him. In a similar situation I guess I could use my comeback as a lead in to his. That I instead helped thousands keep the job that was putting food on their tables.

The commercials say that you can get $10/HP off with new Mopars - that’s $7,970 off the 797 HP model...I’m afraid to even look at the MSRP on them...

That's the only way we've ever bought a car.....off 2 and 3 year "Fleeces".

People who lease pay the majority of the depreciation of the car. You pay the true value and you usually have at least 2 more years of warranty if it's "certified pre-owner".

Best way to buy and there's a maintenance trail on the car too so you'll know if its been a lemon.

Got a 14 yr old nephew that’s dying to get a car.
He will learn to love a standard.

You shouldn’t regret having kids. We all make the choices that are best.

Yes my latest is a fully loaded 2014 Camry i got for less than half the sticker price came with brand new tires, brakes, battery and looked and smelled like it just came from the factory.
It’s also one of the last normal looking Camry’s which is a plus.
Cosmic Grey
Before that a fully loaded 3 yr old 2010 Mazda 6....half price.
Same deal...low miles mint condition.
only a fool or somebody that has $$$ to blow or reallllly needs the latest thing buys new these days.

This is the only Corvette that I’ve been really interested in since the early 1970’s. For what it is, it’s a bargain.

WHile I love the old-school feel of a manual transmission, the double clutch lightening fast paddle shifting is superior.

Yes good commentary but my first question is where the hell are the mandatory pictures?

Geesh ... I suppose someone's got to do it.

The latest issue of Car and Driver magazine has a three car comparison article. Base price for the high end Camaro is $72K ($76K with options), Challenger is $79K ($93K with options) and the Shelby Mustang is $74K ($94K with options).
