i think whatever happens the cdc is going to be the most reviled federal agency in a year - and if this goes bad, they may have even more power than they have now!
This seems to be a western culture issue—since both Western Europe and the US seem to be slow to react...so I am not blaming the CDC—I would do so if western Europe acted and we did not.
