That flu that kills about 30K per year has a 0.1% fatality rate.
Coronavirus has a 2% fatality rate, or 20X higher.
And it also has a much higher R-Naught, or infectiousness.
The 2% is “best case” when first-world medical systems can keep up. Once hospitals are overrun, the 15% serious rate becomes the death rate.
Only 93% for someone my age and I’m not that old.
And I’d really miss 7% of my friends.
