masked dead man on the ground, two cops standing guard, I’d be out of there as fast as my feet could carry me
Regarding you comments about meat in the freezer: I agree, I am not concerned about losing power. But since you are mentioning backup plans I just want to add that canning meat in a pressure canner is an easy process. Its just time consuming. I’ve had a freezer go out twice in my life but both times caught it early enough to save my meat. My 3 freezers are once again packed but I’m prepared with equipment to can should that become necessary.
Morning of the first day of SXSW will be the day this drawbridge comes up and the castle door is locked. 10 days. Maybe. If not sooner.
Gas up. Top off pet stuff, tp, dairy and maybe fresh produce that can be washed, peeled and cooked. Homemade winter squash soup for the freezer would be good for a self quarantine (knock on wood). They’ve been out of masa so fingers crossed it will be in stock for tamale making. I’m now into sick time (knocking again) microwave meal planning.
Austin, TX evening news says CV has kept voters away. Still over an hour wait time in lines and it’s not 5 o’clock yet.
The (SXSW) Show MUST Go On!!
($$$$$$)
If you have a yard, save the winter squash seeds & plant them. Especially if they’re butternut seeds.
Might need those this summer/fall.
Butternuts are SO easy to grow.
Team Blue doesn’t know what bathroom to use. How well do you think they will handle an outbreak?
Would be funny if my sister and parents weren’t in ground zero.
Why can't we know where the person traveled? Why do we have to ask pretty please to test? They better get the test results before SXSW. The news story before the CV update was all smiles for SXSW not being cancelled. FYI, SXSW (the huge week long music festival with other countries coming in) and Travis Co. is Austin, TX.
That and the fact that many are 1st and 2nd generation immigrants who still have living relatives in ' the old country'.
Also, among most Oriental cultures, older generations are revered and respected, adding to the draw to return.
This totally ignores the fact that all three have significant sanctuary cities which may contribute to the disease.
Squash bugs are horrid here. No little tricks works.
*** we have a shortage of them for the expected medical demand. ***
Still pissed the GSA auctioned all those n95 masks February 29th.

Have you tried one of the little puffer things with DE and/or spinosad?
I’m just asking :)
Our biggest issue is all bugs. But mainly the vine borers. Butternuts and a few varieties of pumpkin are all we can really grow because of those little stinkers.
I’m guessing it is real. Of course two weeks ago if someone was laying on a NYC sidewalk you would just walk around them. But now it is automatically assumed to be the virus.
(Although I’m guessing it is rare for an Asian male with a facemask to be found laying on the sidewalk?)
Try nutrition stores or natural foods stores for vitamins.

Injecting Spinosad solution into the hollow vines kills the larva, but I am always afraid I will poke myself with the syringe.
That’s why I’ve switched to cucuzza. Not susceptible since stems aren’t hollow.
The UTSA Urbino Italy Campus has closed, and the students returned to the US yesterday. I saw Urbino has only 4 cases of covid19, but the province it is in has 61 cases.
UTSA, for those who may not know, is the University of Texas at San Antonio. The returning students have been asked to self quarantine for 14 days.
I did see Twitter and Facebook pulled out of SXSW.
