Who's running? Post #32.

Posted on 03/02/2020 4:05:16 AM PST by upchuck

Post #32. With so many rats running for president in 2020 it's hard to keep up with who's in and who's out. Hopefully, this post will help. This thread will be posted each week, likely on Monday, with the dropouts from the previous week and newly declared candidates noted.

Below is a list of declared candidates and their occupation. Below that is a list of dropouts, their occupation and the date they dropped from the race.

Dropout(s) in the past week: Tom Steyer dropped out after an embarrassing 3rd place finish in the South Carolina primary behind Biden and Sanders. Link. Pete Buttigieg has also dropped out. His efforts to mainstream homosexuality via his campaign are at a thankful end. Link.

Newly declared candidates from last week: Thankfully, none.

Current counts: We're down to 8 declared candidates (7 if you don't include KILLary) and 22 dropouts. Tomorrow (Super Tuesday) should be interesting.

That is a scary group of all 30 of them. Imagine if they sat down to create a new constitution. Here it is:
Gun free nation, censored speech, atheism national religion, no borders, 90% tax burden, Dept of Peace (social workers) replaces military, nationalized medical and pharma, elimination of fossil fuels (fines and prison if you are caught with a wood burning stove), national education system similar to N.Korea.

What did I miss?

I didn’t know Chaffee was still alive. Literally. I had no idea he was both alive AND running for President.

I guess he is your dark horse for a brokered convention.

Went to Chaffee’s site. It says Libertarian for President.
Isn’t this list Democrats only?
Should he be on the list?

Vermin Supreme is another candidate.

Wikipedia: “These differ from the Republican or Democratic presidential primaries and caucuses in that they do not appoint delegates to represent a candidate at the party’s convention to select the party’s presidential nominee. The party’s nominee will be chosen directly by registered delegates at the 2020 Libertarian National Convention from May 21–25, 2020 in Austin, Texas.”

Chaffee not a ‘rat.
Wiki: “He was a member of the Democratic Party from 2013–2019; in June 2019, The Boston Globe reported that he had become a registered Libertarian, having previously been a Republican until 2007 and an independent and then a Democrat in the interim.”

Will Warren and Amy drop out Wed.?

If you take out Chaffee and do not reserve a space for Hillary it comes down to 6, perhaps 3 or 4 by later this week.

Biden, Bloomberg, Sanders
Also rans:
Gabbard, Warren, Klobuchar

I think mini-Mike is behind Biden and Bernie making him irrelevant.

Several of you have been discussing Lincoln Chaffee and the fact he's a Libertarian, not a Democrat and you're absolutely correct.

I added Mr. Chaffee in this post on January 6, 2020 with this comment:

This weekly thread is for anyone running for president who is not a Republican. Thus, Mr. Chaffee qualifies.

Thanks for the note.

One has to wonder what the “story” is in their imagination. Has there been a bus crash where everyone else in the country is dead and they are the only ones left running?

Saw that too. I was predicting
Amy and Warren out by Wed morning.

Indeed anyone not a Republican
would also mean other Libertarians
like Vermin Supreme.
