The Rhode Island Department of Health has announced the first presumptive positive case of coronavirus disease in Rhode Island.
The DOH said the person is in their 40s and traveled to Italy in mid-February.
The person is being treated at an area hospital, according to the DOH.
Gov. Gina Raimondo and the Director of Health, Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott, will hold a news conference at 11:45 a.m. to answer any questions.
So someone in RI did travel to Italy. Oh well.
I would imagine that DC and the “home” counties- my overseas junkets are a constitutional right and not traveling to affected countries would be racist and xenophobic - will become a hotbed of infection pretty soon.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
Expect many, many “presumptive cases of the coronavirus being reported and almost all from Liberal run States.
Any serious case of flu like symptoms will be considered and reported as presumptive coronavirus until the Left decides to reveal the results of the testing. They will do so immediately if there are positive results and wait days or not report the results at all if they prove negative.
There is a large Chinese enclave in the area of northern Italy where the WuFlu struck.

Presumptive means they tested positive at the local health department. It is considered presumptive until verified by then CDC.
The CDC says to treat the presumptive cases the same as if they are already confirmed.

I get 2.7 gallons extra in my car if I pack, and no performance hit. Just takes a few minutes. However, I do take into account whether I’ll quickly burn-off that fuel, as that extra capacity is intended for expansion as fuel warms up, either due to ambient temperature, and/or due to cold gas being pumped in. If I’m not driving too much right away, I won’t pack it quite as tight.
