OCT. 20, 2004: Amid national reports of a looming shortage of flu vaccines, Gov. Rod Blagojevich pursues buying overseas vaccines.

Stymied by federal regulators who wouldn't allow the unapproved drugs into the country, the Democratic governor was stuck with a $2.6 million bill for medicine expiring in refrigerators on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. Critics accused him of grandstanding, debates emerged over whether to pay and Blagojevich searched for someplace that could use the vaccine.

It turns out, Pakistani officials say, the vaccines never helped anyone.

Instead, health authorities in Pakistan crushed and burned the half-million doses because they wouldn't give their people an expired vaccine, according to interviews and government records.

Today... Gov. J.B. Pritzker said “we’re not relying on the White House” during a news conference this morning to discuss how the city and state are preparing for a potential outbreak of the coronavirus. Instead, Pritzker and Mayor Lori Lightfoot are looking to Illinois’ public health officials along with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for guidance

-—good —maybe it has soaked through their thick heads that the “White House” can’t micro-manage every governmental entity right down to townships and that there is such a thing as local responsibility-—

Constitutionally, unless it’s a bona fide national emergency, the feds have no authority to meddle in healthcare, vaccines, or the like,

I was in BiH during the war in the 90’s. All the donated humanitarian med’s from the US I saw were expired.

Sadly, since the ‘90’s, Pakistan has spiraled deeper into the conspiracy theory cyclone. Many don’t receive Polio vaccines because they believe that it’s a Western ploy to sterilize Muslims, and I believe that mindset is probably what was behind the destruction of those vaccines.

Or, “destruction”, because as stated, there is a huge black market in Pakistan.

The FDA has a procedure for testing and extending the expiration date.

Toss Rod’s ass back in the can.

For this and many other stupid stunts, like starting a state-funded R&D stemcell operation with funds from the state pension system. I saw a pay schedule for the board of directors... $$$ for nothing.
And nothing was ever produced.
Gov. Hot Dog’s latest medical stunt

For that flog the SOB! Cost less than a fancy jail.

For horse-trading a senate position, a slap on the wrist, maybe.

IIRC the vaccine was produced in Scotland.

I was recently surprised to discover that a prescription I had was MADE IN CHINA!

There are approximately 650 companies operating in the Pakistani Pharmaceutical market, out of which less than 30 are multinational companies. The Pharmaceutical industry contributes approximately 1% to the GDP of Pakistan annually

Flat out flasehoods here....according to the Pandemic protocols first developed in 2007 after nearly 40 years of wrangling...(and updated in 2017) Pretty much all response is local and state...The Fed’s do have a rold, but the states and local have much of the response responsibility. Did they squander the monies given to them to stockpile supplies like they were supposed to do? Or did they spend the money to purchase needles to give out to junkies?
