“You going out tonight?”..is not asking her what she was doing after the show.
He followed that up with a silly comment but NOTHING that sounded like he was asking her out.

How might she have reacted to the very same comments, in exactly the same context, not by Matthews (whom she apparently finds repellant), but by another man to whom she is physically attracted?
