A high school student is in Snohomish County (Jackson High) and is a community acquired case. Other WA case (woman with travel history to South Korea) is in King County.
Anybody watching the Snohomish press conference?
They’re pretty much saying that we can’t stop this. 20% will need hospitalization.
Pre-existing medical conditions (comorbidities)
Patients who reported no pre-existing (”comorbid”) medical conditions had a case fatality rate of 0.9%. Pre-existing illnesses that put patients at higher risk of dying from a COVID-19 infection are:
COVID-19 Fatality Rate by COMORBIDITY:
*Death Rate = (number of deaths / number of cases) = probability of dying if infected by the virus (%). This probability differs depending on pre-existing condition. The percentage shown below does NOT represent in any way the share of deaths by pre-existing condition. Rather, it represents, for a patient with a given pre-existing condition, the risk of dying if infected by COVID-19.

Oh no...so sorry to hear....prayers up.
Could explain the stepped up US military CV efforts for US Korea bases.
These WA healthcare folks so far do not understand asymptomatic spread, and also think it is spread by droplets. Have these folks not been following what is going on in the world?
1. Calif only supplied with 200 test kits - Newsom: we’ve had a very strong working relationship with the Admin.
2. N95s in short supply Sacramento
3. 40 labs can now test for COV
4. 93 labs will be able to test by Monday
5. State has millions of masks stockpiled - but they’re ‘expired’ - seeing permission to still use

No, not watching.
Who is Snohomish?
Got a link?
Thanks.
This was good to know for perspective
80% of cases are mild
Based on all 72,314 cases of COVID-19 confirmed, suspected, and asymptomatic cases in China as of February 11, a paper by the Chinese CCDC released on February 17 and published in the Chinese Journal of Epidemiology has found that:
80.9% of infections are mild (with flu-like symptoms) and can recover at home.
13.8% are severe, developing severe diseases including pneumonia and shortness of breath.
4.7% as critical and can include: respiratory failure, septic shock, and multi-organ failure.
in about 2% of reported cases the virus is fatal.
Risk of death increases the older you are.
Relatively few cases are seen among children.

The woman, 50, returned from South Korea and works in Seattle via Washington State Public Health media conference.
Bellevue case
question was asked
not tested yet it sounds
Thanks....I’m not on FB, so may be why I can’t get vid to play....just a spinning wheel.
I could see comment, to the side. Locals not happy that they’re only testing people with symptoms? Saying people can be infectious without symptoms.
Can you plase recap?
That's the problem. 20% are NOT mild...they require medical attention.
There are something like 964,000 total hospital beds in the USA.
If only 3,000,000 people get infected that's 600,000 hospitalizations. It would take far less than that to overwhelm our health care system. THAT'S why governments were trying to stop it. The US just didn't even try really.
Doesnt look like it
And even less ICU beds, which is what the severe cases seem to require.
Bottom line: They can now test locally in less than a day. They say it's a given that there are more people with the disease. Not practical to trace them all back to see who they infected. Said it will probably become a yearly thing. Says that vaccine is at least a year away if ever. Says that need to focus on washing hands, not going anywhere if sick, not touching face. Also mentioned would likely have to cancel large events, sporting events , etc etc.
Our lives are going to change.
You keep noting the 20% number.
Is that the rate from... where? Japan, South Korea? Italy? China?
