Agree.

(just kidding...adding a few ‘context’ words would sure help on these long threads)

“The original case they did track the guy’s movements and his “close” contacts. I hope by now they realize it can transmit even without being “close”.”

*****

I agree and that has concerned me from the beginning. The CDC keeps saying it spreads like the flu but tracking it this last month it appears to spread much more easily, as several have theorized aerosolized versus airborne.

From the experience of Iran - recommending avoidance of corticosteroid prescriptions;

“Minoo Mohrz, a member of the Ministry of Health’s Infectious Diseases Committee in a conversation with Ilena, about the administration of cortins (especially dexamethasone) to patients suspected of having the flu or flu, said: “Normal doctors used the drug for the flu.” This is a dangerous prescription. The same risk exists for coronary patients when given dexamethasone.

“This is a false prescription,” he said. Many doctors routinely prescribe dexamethasone for clients who have symptoms of a fever or a cold. However, this prescription is mistaken even for the common cold.

“The matter has been investigated by the National Coronation Committee,” Mohrz said. At present, the directive has advised all doctors to avoid prescribing cortins, especially dexamethasone.

He added: “Doctors should be trained to avoid prescribing cortins.” Of course, this has been part of doctors’ training, but some forget it when they come to work.

A member of the State Committee on Infectious Diseases of the Ministry of Health said: “In these conditions, people should avoid any self-treatment.” Not only dexa, the use of acetaminophen, aspirin and such pills as can be found at home can affect the immune system. Can be. Therefore, aspirin is not recommended as a tablet.

Moharz also emphasized: “These cases should not be obsessive in order to prevent patients from following the recommendations and implementation of treatment protocols.” Patients may become sensitive and may not allow physicians to receive treatment. If so, their own health or lives are at risk. This is a recommendation to the doctors and it will be completed promptly. So there is no worry for patients.

“The best practice in the current situation is to prevent people from taking any medicines because they are unaware of drug interactions,” he said. Lack of confidence in the medical advice of physicians is as dangerous as taking these medications. Public awareness and the actions of the Ministry of Health can have a very fruitful result.“

Transmission in Italy, indeed all over Europe right now, appears to involve very little close contact.

The, “Well, in China they spit on the sidewalk and eat cats” meme is going out the window.

I agree, also “it’s just bad healthcare” meme. We are seeing it play out live in S. Korea right now where it is simply overwhelming healthcare.

Very first thing in the morning might be better for grocery shopping. If your store opens at 6am, the shelves will be resotcked or in the process of and it will have been hours since the general public has sneezed in the store.

TAIWAN - Diamond Cruise passenger. Tested negative twice, flew home, then tested positive: TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan confirmed one more COVID-19 case in a 70-year-old woman repatriated from Japan after an ill-fated voyage on the Diamond Princess, bringing the total COVID-19 cases in Taiwan to 40, according to a statement put out by the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) on Sunday (March 1). CECC Commander Chen Shih-chung (陳時中) said that the woman continued to stay on the cruise ship after it arrived in Japan on Feb. 4. She had no symptoms of respiratory illness but tested positive for the new coronavirus on Feb. 15, and so was isolated in a hospital in Japan for treatment. Chen said that after she tested negative for the virus twice, she was released from the hospital and took a flight home. Chen said that the woman wore a face mask on the flight and no passengers sat within two rows of her. When she arrived in Taiwan, she was escorted to a hospital for isolation and screening. After she tested positive three times, she was today confirmed to still have the virus. All the medical professionals who came into contact with the woman wore protective gear; therefore, none of them have been required to undergo screening. The woman’s husband tested negative in Japan on Feb. 7, and he is currently being quarantined in a Japanese hotel, Chen added. https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/3883510
