They won’t all have it at the same time, some multiple of the number of total beds and ventilators can be treated. Any treatment that can shorten their hospital stay and especially their ventilator time, will increase that multiple. At least in one reported US case remdisivir did just that. And it seemed to be safe in past trials against ebola, just not as effective as another candidate ebola drug. Whether that case was random luck or an effective drug we don’t yet know... but we might know in a month. If it works I bet Trump can speed it to market faster than liberals can lie about it.

Hey! Now there ya go!

Just think of it this way. When you go to a store or a crowded place? You drop a good one and they'll stay well clear of you.

What type of quarantine would we call that?

We are well and truly screwed.

A *CHINESE* source — backed up by the French — confirm the significance of, though not the origin of, those amino acid sequences the Indian researchers talked about.

https://www.scmp.com/news/china/society/article/3052495/coronavirus-far-more-likely-sars-bond-human-cells-scientists-say

When looking at the genome sequence of the new coronavirus, Professor Ruan Jishou and his team at Nankai University in Tianjin found a section of mutated genes that did not exist in Sars, but were similar to those found in HIV and Ebola.

Instead of hooking up to the ACE2 receptor, the novel coronavirus has a cleavage site on the spike. This tricks something called the furin enzyme, on human cells, to cleave the spike at that point — allowing the viral membrane and the human cell’s membrane to join, effectuating the entry of the virus into the cell.

Guess which viruses actively have their own Furin? Ebola and AIDS.

Guess which viruses DON’T have anything like this?

“The mutation could not be found in Sars, Mers or Bat-CoVRaTG13, a bat coronavirus that was considered the original source of the new coronavirus with 96 per cent similarity in genes, it said.”

Remember — confirmed by the French, too, Chinese source.

Meanwhile, a study by French scientist Etienne Decroly at Aix-Marseille University, which was published in the scientific journal Antiviral Research on February 10, also found a “furin-like cleavage site” that is absent in similar coronaviruses.

Just for clarity sake; China has been economically shut down for a month, that's likely at least a trillion dollars. A fair portion of South Korea is shut down, likely for a month at least, if not longer - That's 3/4 of a trillion dollars.

1 3/4 trillion (at least) of economic activity shut down; I would assume there's a LOAD of bargains on Wall St to take advantage of. How much of a trickle effect would you predict say for Apple? Or Samsung? Or Disney? Or Walmart?

Mind you, most of the items for the 4th of July weren't produced this month for delivery in April.

If I am having trouble breathing but can still swallow I am taking my remaining oxycodone tablets...don’t want intubation. You never fully recover.

I dont understand any of that..so bottom line...it’s indicative of a possible bioweapon..

but is there something in all of it that could explain why it seems to attack Asians more if the ACE2 part of it isn’t important.

The cruisers were quarantined at Travis AFB which is about 20 miles from the UC Davis Hospital.

The hospital claims to have treated previous COVID-19 patients.

Makes me wonder if this guy was being treated for complications from the Flu at UC Davis and then caught COVID-19 at the UC Davis Hospital.

When it’s the “only way,” do what’s rational and reasonable to the best of your ability. What we don’t need is panic and people acting irrationally. There’s already too much of that on the left. Multiple historical episodes with hundreds of deaths show why “crying fire in a crowded theater” is the proverbial exception to free speech.

I’m just saying that no POTUS could be reelected under those circumstances.

I know that. I'm just saying the result would be Bernie and the end of our country as we know it.

Imagine the tin foil theories.

UC Davis Medical Center will likely resemble a ghost town within 24 hours.

I left out doctors because even in critical care they probably only spend at most 10-20 minutes per day per patient. It is the 24/7 monitoring that is the issue. You will also have stain on lab services as blood work is usually done at least 2X per day while in the ICU. Luckily most hospitals have switched to digital x rays, although I am unsure if there are portable digital x ray machines.

Folks, in between your vapors, remind yourself that the vast majority of people who get infected with this WILL RECOVER. Take a deep breath and relax!

BTW, influenza is still killing lots more people. You should be more worried about that based of the number of deaths.

This mass hysteria is truly breathtaking to behold.

20% of everyone who contracts it will need hospitalization.

BTW, influenza is still killing lots more people. You should be more worried about that based of the number of deaths.

This spreads MUCH more easily than influenza. And nobody has any immunity to it. It's a brand new virus to the human body. It's logical to think that many more people will be infected than are infected by influenza. In an average year 60 million people get infected by the flu. If 60 million people get infected by this in a year it will mean that 12 million will have to be hospitalized. There are only 964,000 TOTAL hospital beds in America.

This mass hysteria is truly breathtaking to behold.

The "mass hysteria" in S. Korea, Italy, China and everyplace else where they have quarantined entire towns is because they know this will kill their medical system. Why else do you suppose they are taking such drastic measures to contain this? Is it all hysteria or do you think these governments are doing what they need to do to contain a virus?

25,000 people have died from influenza in the past 4 months.

The WHO says 650,000 people die from influenza each year worldwide, with 5 million becoming seriously I’ll. Why didn’t you get hysterical over these numbers?

It’s amazing what you Coronavirus Groupies ignore.
