Elmore County, Alabama A man is in critical condition after being shot multiple times by the homeowner he tried to rob, according to the Elmore County Sheriff.
The suspect has been identified as 39-year old Charles Bowne, who spent time in jail in Indiana for currently unknown offenses.
At sometime around 5 on Monday morning, the homeowner woke up hearing noises. He said he didnt really know what was happening, but grabbed his 9mm handgun.
He was then confronted by Bowne in the living room where he said give it up, to the homeowner. The homeowner then fired 4 or 5 shots at the intruder after the intruder reached down to grab something out of his pocket. Bowne had been hit four times, to include one bullet to the head.
Sheriff Franklin said it appeared as if the man was under the influence, but he wasnt sure of what at the time of this writing. He did have a crackpipe stashed in his sock, however, so that may be an indicator.
As of right now the homeowner is not being charged with anything, and the suspect remains in critical condition.
If he had a crack pipe in his sock, isn't it a pretty easy guess?
Good shootin’ Tex!
RIP Richard Cranium!
Was the crack pipe damaged?
So he’s not dead? I take it back; “Center of mass, center of mass and empty the mag!”
An easy guess, but it was reported correctly.
“Just the facts” isn’t only a catch phrase from old TV.
I expected more damage, from four hits, including one to the head.
At first I was surprised that he hadn’t emptied the magazine, but then figured he had brought him down well. Until I saw the photo.
Like common sense.
The latest Rookie episode had a couple of big gaps there.
The prep broke into his home. Crackpipe is meaningless
On first speed reading I read it as
A crack pipe in a sock
And thought he was pointing it at the guy as a gun.
The guy is in someone else’s house which he broke into, confronts the homeowner and starts to reach for something in his pocket. When I was young, the term “As of right now the homeowner is not being charged with anything,” would have never even been in the news article. Perhaps the homeowner should have asked the perp to sit down for some coffee.
I was lauding the reporter’s decision to stay with known facts, and include the speculation (mentioning the crack pipe) as clearly identified conjecture.
The homeowner shot him four times, with one those being to the head. I'm thinking "critical condition" here is that the brain is dead, but the body just doesn't know it yet.
Of course, the perp appears to be a crackhead, so the brain's probably been dead for some time already.
Once he’s down, keep a couple of rounds in the magazine in case he has an as yet unseen accomplice.
He’s in the hospital in critical condition. I think that photo was probably from a previous arrest.
Keep him alive long enough for his next of kin to fill out organ donor forms.
I'm guessing whatever organs he might have left are not really good for much except worm food. The brain was obviously useless, and the rest of the body is probably chock full of whatever crap he's been shooting up or smoking.
That'll teach him to put a crack pipe in his sock.
Don't take your pipe to town, son. Leave your pipe at home.
He might have just been holding it for a friend.
Really? Am I going to be the first one to utter...
“Never bring a crack pipe to a gun fight.”?
