So you’re believing the numbers from the Chinese government?
If it’s a 2% kill rate and hits the U.S., that’s 4-5 million dead? Don’t think that’d collapse the system? Even if it’s more like the Spanish Flu that was still 675,000 people.
that would be a human tragedy and tank the economy and probably ensure Trump would lose reelection as the media would spin it as his fault
While the kill rate is significant, the larger story is that ten times the kill rate is the seriously sick (requiring hospitalization) rate which would totally overwhelm hospitals—as well as keeping people unable to work for a long period of time.
That would include health care workers, which would just add to the problem.
If the trends continue this would be very disruptive to the world economy until the pandemic ran its course.
I doubt it would be that high here or anything close. At least I hope not, because you are right even a 2% kill rate would be catastrophic.
“...If its a 2% kill rate and hits the U.S., thats 4-5 million dead?...”
Wouldn’t that mean everyone in the U.S. caught the virus????
Nope. It's a 4.8% mortality rate. This is a bad one.
The infection rate is also very high... 40-70%. SOURCE
According to Meta-analysis, among the clinical characteristics of patients with 2019-nCoV infection, the incidence of fever is 90.9% , the incidence of cough is 70.8%, and the incidence of muscle soreness or fatigue is 41%.SOURCEThe incidence of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) was 14.8%, the incidence of abnormal chest CT was 95.6%, the proportion of severe cases in all infected cases was 21.3%, and the mortality rate of patients with 2019-nCoV infection was 4.8%.
So in the USA:
Total US Population: | 327,000,000 |
Infected: | 130million-229million |
Dead (4.8%): | 6.25million - 11 million |
I've linked my sources.
Let's hope this is all just a terrible mistake.
