Figured we would start numbering the threads.
Some points to keep in mind:
1. This thing is not “just the flu.” 2. 1/10th of the worlds population is in some sort of lockdown. 3. Generally, we don’t buy the Chinese numbers But if anything they are low. 4. Everyone is welcome to post, but don’t bore us with your “you are panicking” posts. They are tedious.

CDC’s test kit is intended for use by laboratories designated by CDC as qualified, and in the United States, certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) to perform high complexity tests. The test kits also will be shipped to qualified international laboratories, such as World Health Organization (WHO) Global Influenza Surveillance Response System (GISRS) laboratories. The test will not be available in U.S. hospitals or other primary care settings. The kits will be distributed through the International Reagent Resourceexternal icon (IRR)

He’s fine. He tried to dilute himself out of existence by overhydrating and his electrolytes were out of whack. We got him to the ER on time and there’s no permanent damage.
So we’re monitoring his diet and so forth going forward and he’ll be fine.

Emergency text messages are being broadcast to almost every smartphone in country (at least those purchased in S. Korea, iPhone too). Messages are localised, giving routes taken by infected people.
Some alerts are even looking for specific people, asking them to come forward

The 1918 flu or the Spanish Flu infected 500,000,000 people (500 million) and 50 million people died.
It is conjectured (but not confirmed) that 'cytokine storm' might have played a factor in this flu/virus in 1918.
Basically, 'cytokine storm' is when the body's immune system attacks the body by 'over reacting' to an infection.
If I start getting sick, I might take aspirin and benadryl to suppress part of the immune system.
The 'cytokine storm' is because the immune system is 'too powerful'.
Of course, an anti-viral would be good as well.
The 'cytokine storm' may be happening now with our existing flu outbreak. There have been over 100 children reported dying from the flu.
Where I live, a 10th grader came down with a respiratory illness, and then died later the same day.
I believe the 'child' was very healthy, and may have had the 'cytokine storm'.
It is possible that China is having this trouble with the new Corona virus outbreak that started in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China

They are in Japan and will be there a long time, at least a month. The woman is still very sick. They just told the husband that it would be at least a month.

There was one print story a week or so ago from a survivor in Vietnam. The person was a US citizen, visiting? Otherwise a normally healthy person, said it kicked him hard. I seem to remember that the care was free. Don’t know if I can find that story anymore.
