Try a Maine Coon, they are the dogs of the cat world. Act more like a dog than a cat. Answer to their name and just as loving as any dog.
Have had both dogs and cats. My Maine Coon got along well with the dogs and the dogs got along well with her.
By the way she would back up and 80 pound lab and 80 pound black and tan coon hound. Took no guff from anyone or anything.
Came home one day and Meanness was on rail of the deck eying a red tail hawk on the privacy fence and hawk was eying her. Mexican stand off. Toughest 7 lb cat you have ever seen.
My cat plays fetch. My dog ignores me. I think I have some messed up animals.

Maine Coons rule! My Coon's natural habitat is my lap. She tells me what she needs by making little meows and standing near what she wants to be filled: water bowl, food bowl, or my lap (with her, of course).
When I was a kid we had both dogs and cats. One morning our cat dropped a muskrat she killed in front of the door. She tolerated the dogs as long as they stayed at least five feet away.
You had a Maine Coon that only weighed 7 lbs? That must be a typo. They are huge cats. My Maine Coon weighed 25 lbs, and it wasn’t fat. He passed away last October after being my best buddy for 18 years.

I had a Manx like that, but I always thought that was because of how I raised it.
