There there...and there.
You did choose as a robot as your avatar! ;-D
Time gets us all! Hang in there!
Look at it on the bright side. Your feet are on the deck and you are taking selfies.
Hang in there Danny! You will make it through this like the champ that you are!
God Bless!
But you’re still here to be ABLE to look in the mirror, brother.
And that is a victory in itself.
First, the good news, Monday last PET Scan, says my oncologist, shows the cancer has not spread very far at all and "highly treatable." So my chemo and radiation treatment should only run 4 or 5 weeks he says.
He gave me several new meds including 2 for nausea. However, Carrie, the nurse that will be doing the actual chemo told me that they believed they had mostly got the nausea problem handled. Now, of course, everyone reacts differently, so I will cross my finger and toes while having those two 'no-vomit' pills very close at hand.
I will be seated in a lazy boy type chair for the chemo and using my brand new Bard Power Port they will take a couple of hours to pump in the chemo meds while I sit and re-read my W.E.B. Griffin Brotherhood-of-War novels-- I hope!
Carries says the chemo will lower my resistance, and with the possible coming of Coronavirus being around, I will be wearing a face mask to keep its germs at bay when ever I am out and about. She warned me to steer well clear of anyone sick or sickly looking--
My new heart monitor is a pain. It pings at odd times and I am constantly charging it and the accompanying cell phone that came along to send the data back. On my trip to the radiation folks, it appears I will have to take it off and put it back on some five times a week because of the radiation treatments while I ride the rails of their confounded radioactive dispensing machine. I then went back to my cardiologist and gave the nurse that fitted me with the monitor the news I'd need many, many of the little thingies that mold the monitor to my more than manly chest for the coming five weeks or so. She gave me a dozen and said to come back for more when I needed them.
I wish to give heart felt thanks to Greg Allen who volunteered to help me for he will be driving me on the first Wednesday of this confounded rig-a-ma-ro. He will certainly be adding a very large gold star to his chances for a front seat in Heaven whether he needs it at all-- Many, many thanks, Greg! Dad and Blackie will smiling down at your act of brotherly kindness. They were truly our connection to the real Brotherhood of War from their service in the 133rd Field Artillery of the 36th Infantry Texas National Guard Division during over 400 days of combat in World War Two. Bless 'em all!
I also want to thank all of you who have given me their support and prayers during this ordeal. My biggest fear is fear itself as one always is afraid of the unknown. All y'all have helped me face that AND knowing there are those that care and support me, it comforts me greatly when I fear the most. To each and every one of you, my love and appreciation--
Take care and God Bless,
Danny
Like I’ve said for the two losses my Dragons have suffered...
“Thank you for nothing, you useless reptile.”
(Perfect line from “How To Train Your Dragon”)
Any time you mention the King of Battle, your chances are greatly improved. And since you did, may St Barbara, the patron saint of the Field Artillery, strike down that goldard cancer.
Got a call when I was halfway to Huntsville to say the closing on our home had to be pushed back a week, so we’re living out of suitcases for ten days.
oh, and my picks for this weekend
LA over NY
St. Louis over the godless Seattle team
Houston over Dallas in the Austin Bowl
DC over Tampa Bay
Barbara is my mom’s name. I didn’t know St. Barbara was the patron of Field Artillery!
LA Wussiecats over Meow York
Big's Byrd Boys over them Godless Seattlites
While my main heart pump roots for my Dallas Lite Boys, my secondary heart pump says my Baby Oilers will win in the first half of the All Texas Championship of the XFL--
Lastly DC will get it sh!t together and smack down Tampa Bay
Indeed she is https://www.militarysaints.com/why-is-st-barbara-patron-saint-of-artillery/
I was awarded the Honorable Order of St. Barbara when I was stationed at Ft. Sill, OK (Mother Sill to artillerists).
