President Donald Trump attacked the 2020 film Parasite at his rally in Colorado Springs Thursday night, complaining that a foreign film won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
How bad were the Academy Awards this year? Trump, who is president, asked at his 2020 campaign rally. And the winner is a movie from South Korea. What was that all about? We got enough problems with South Korea, with trade. On top of it, they give them the best movie of the year? Was it good? I dont know. Lets get Gone With the Wind, can we get Gone With the Wind back please? Sunset Boulevard? So many great movies. The winner is from South Korea. I thought it was best foreign film. Best foreign movie.
The Gone With the Wind reference drew scattered applause from the audience.
Trump continued with a shot at Brad Pitt, who criticized Republicans in his speech accepting the Oscar for Best Actor.
Then you have Brad Pitt, I was never a fan of his, Trump said. A wise guy. He is a little wise guy. Best foreign movie. No, it was this has never happened before. Anyway.

No, let's not. I quail at the thought of seeing Gone With the Wind being remade today. It would be full of nude scenes, sex scenes and profanity and would be steeped in the politically correct, cultural Marxist view of American history.
Never has there been such an off putting title.
Any recommendations? We are the same and are always looking for something new. Thanks
Lol
Thatll make some heads here explode
That’s a slam on Hollywood, not the movie Parasite.
RE: Thats a slam on Hollywood, not the movie Parasite.
I know, but I can’t change the title.
He didn’t say bad things about it either. He said he never saw it. It was Hollywood he was torching, not Parasite.
What pants? The left got the pants off Hollywood a long time ago.
I was glad Parasite won over some of the others but of the nominees that I saw, I liked “Ford v Ferrari” best. I like biopics. I haven’t seen 1917 yet. . .
Of course.
I am glad that Hollywood can diddle itself.
Parasite creeped me out.
Too much amoral behavior for my tastes.
I’m with you, Chainmail.
Then theres Marcel Carnes Les Enfants du Paradis.
Trump had the wrong aim.
The win for the South Korean film was itself a dig at Hollyweird. Trump should not have made any part of his comment sound like a dig at South Korea. It is not South Korea’s fault that the best Hollyweird could produce lost to a movie from South Korea.
Instead Trump could have and should praised the South Korean for besting Hollweird, and made THAT as a dig at Hollyweird.
the title says he torches the film then a few lines down he says he thought it was the best foreign film. Well, okay.
Most years, I see either 1 or 0 of the Best Picture nominees. This year, I happened to see 7 of 9 (all but the two girliest - Marriage Story and Little Women), and I liked something about each of them.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: long, a little slow, but I thought it was beautiful as a period piece, great use of music, and terrific ending.
1917: incredible filmmaking accomplishment in those long uninterrupted sequences, movie didn’t drag at all. Only gripe: if you’ve seen the trailer, you’ve seen much of the good stuff in the movie.
Ford v. Ferrari: good, but too long and a little predictable. Unfortunately, I went in with expectations a little too high. Christian Bale was good, but I think he’s had better.
JoJo Rabbit: quirky, but I really, really liked it. Went in with no expectations, which was good.
Parasite: good movie, but didn’t love the ending or overall anticapitalist theme.
Joker: see Parasite. But J. Phoenix was really good.
Irishman: standard-fare Scorsese stuff, which you either like or you don’t (I do). I thought Pacino was magnificent as Jimmy Hoffa; DeNiro and Pesci were just OK. Too long.
I tried to watch it, but wasn’t able to get interested.
Gone With the Wind was much better.
Yes, and not keen on him trashing South Korea. I very Christian nation and example of the success of capitalism.
Yeah Luc Besson directed Anna, which was a fantastic movie. Many movies are now made in Canada or New Zealand. I have no bias either way, though I am Canadian. Just like good movies. If a foreign made movie delivers then I’m happy to enjoy it. Hollywood is its own worst enemy pricing itself out of movie locations.
