A 78-year-old cross on public property in Florida targeted by atheist groups will remain standing after a victory in the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
The court ruled Wednesday that the Bayview Cross in Pensacola, which was built ahead of World War II as a place for the community to gather, does not violate the Constitution. [ ]
The federal appeals court ruled the cross is constitutional, noting it has become embedded in the fabric of the Pensacola community and that removing it could strike many as aggressively hostile to religion.
Four individuals, represented by the American Humanist Association and the Freedom From Religion Foundation, sued the city in 2016, demanding the cross be torn down.
Pensacola Mayor Grover Robinson celebrated the ruling.

These sort of rulings will be President Trump’s Legacy for decades to come! Amen

If they truly believed religious people were just silly idiots, they’d ignore us.

Freedom From Religion Foundation? How can there be freedom from religion for humans, when God gave all humans their souls? Animals have freedom from religion, but not humans.
We wondered about that during our last trip down there. We took an airboat ride with an old guy who seemed just as red-neck as us, had a great time. Felt kind of lost in the big cities and theme parks. Is there a dividing line?
Everything South of Orlando according to one NW Florida congressman,is not fit to live in.
It’s only fair, nothing stands on all the other public land around there, and nothing is what they believe in.
Excellent!
