SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - U.S. immigration agents arrested two people at a Northern California courthouse, including a man detained in a hallway on his way to a hearing, flouting a new state law requiring a judicial warrant to make immigration arrests inside such facilities.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents made the arrests Tuesday at Sonoma County Superior Court, prompting an outcry from criminal justice and court officials who said the action undermines local authority and deters immigrants who are in the country illegally from participating in the U.S. justice system.
ICE said Californias law doesnt supersede federal law and will not govern the conduct of federal officers acting pursuant to duly-enacted laws passed by Congress that provide the authority to make administrative arrests of removable aliens inside the United States.
"Our officers will not have their hands tied by sanctuary rules when enforcing immigration laws to remove criminal aliens from our communities, David Jennings, ICEs field office director in San Francisco, said in the statement.

Not a problem.
It’s extremely stupid to think they were ever going to testify from Brazil or Columbia anyway.
LOVE IT...LOVE IT...LOVE IT!
I love it when the white hats win..
How many years of California political decisions does this erase.
“then they become part of a subculture which is afraid to report crimes against them”
so? they’re criminals to start with themselves, which is why ALL criminals refuse to report crimes against themselves ... if they don’t like that situation, then they don’t like victims then they should stop being illegal aliens and go home ...and besides, why should we paying to defend them against other criminals instead of paying to deport them, anyway?
So, their fear will drive them to leave and go home. Give them no legal shelter or protection except while leaving.
Barr and company have taken the “I dare you” challenge and are telling Kalifornia where to put it.
I love the headline: now its ICE that wont follow the law! Are these clowns at the AP for real??
David Jennings, ICEs field office director in San Francisco. Never heard of him but I like his statement.
“prompting an outcry from criminal justice and court officials who said the action undermines local authority and deters immigrants who are in the country illegally from participating in the U.S. justice system.”
And at no point did they even remotely understand what they just said?
If you are here illegally and commit a crime, out you go. There should be no questions asked.
If you are here legally, maybe you get to stay depending on the crime.
It's called Winning with Trump vs Losing with the DemocRATS.
Good bad or other wise.
No think of federal agents enforcing unconstitutional firearms laws and local Leo’s resisting.
“I would love to see a California L/E attempt to make an arrest on an ICE agent.”
Actually, that would be very bad. All of the arguments and brouhaha should stay in the administrative/legal area. About 25 years ago I saw a Florida Highway Patrol trooper writing a ticket near Miami for a local cop on the highway. I asked a retired FHP guy at my gym in Tallahassee. He rolled his eyes and shook his head. Yes, he knew all about it. There was some very bad blood between the agencies due to the heavy handed nature (apparently physical threats) of the cops union who had jurisdiction at a stadium where the FHP had been hired for off duty security. It almost sounded like a Mafia turf fight. (Off duty, uniformed security is a much coveted highly paid gig.)
The retired guy said the damage done by the tit for tat was huge. Ultimately, the loser is any civilian who gets caught in the bureaucratic anger between agencies.
What can CA do..arrest ICE? I don’t think so.
YES!!!!
If Federal law trumps state law regarding homosexual "marriage" then it also trumps state law on matters like immigration.
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/16/us/shelley-joseph-immigration-judge.html They already nabbed a Massachusetts judge for obstruction.
Exactly correct.
Since EVERY illegal IS a criminal, they should always be looking over their shoulders for law enforcement.
If increased crime in the neighborhoods they are squatting in makes those neighborhoods unlivable then maybe they will go back home.
And if increased crime results in the deaths of criminals then it’s just justice being imposed from on high.
It’s kind of like a gang war between the bloods and ms13. no matter how many of those involved die, we win!
I remember when DC cops called Acacostia a self cleaning oven. LOL.
True, but the other side of the coin is that this issue would get a public airing. Most folks do not know that this law even exist. Those of us that are tuned into this stuff know about it but the general public, (even in California), are not aware of it. It would be 24/7 on the MSM and even though the spin would be against ICE, the facts and the legal analysis of the law and the supremacy of the federal law would have to be discussed. that allows “our” ICE director and “our” legal analyst to make the counter points to the audience/public.
