I think all established bureaucracies are incapable confronting "black swan" events. We are witnessing the 4th turning. Bureaucracies are motivated by self-preservation and not serving the purpose they were set up for. They are incapable of that.

Considering the CDC and local offices are more interested in making sure news is carefully censored than actually doing something, I agree. Heck, there are people made that not enough white men are dying of COVID. Using your statement, my generation are Nomads. It will be for the remnant of us to rebuild, and be hated for it.

I expect that, eventually, all the people will be off the ship - but it should be sunk in very deep water, nobody is going to certify it as safe for human habitation and there’s no point to having it sit around.

Not a pleasant thought. I was hoping I'd just be a mild case if I get it. LOL.

Sadly my husband is half Asian and my kids are 1/4ish Asian--so I can't even find comfort in the Euros get a more mild case theory.

I'd be curious to know if those compounds we have read about in the last few years, in New Zealand, are seeing occupancy right about now.
