Someone said that the the force of the impact was less because it moved the car along..Had it been stationary I am not sure Nascar engineering would have been enough.

I just marvel at the whole thing.

yes i wonder what the relative speed was still one heck of a hit thank God they were going in the same general direction I wonder if they are gonna do something different with that side net

That is right, the difference in speed is what matters so his car still moving down the track helped. I estimate that the difference in speed was around 60 mph in the collision with the driver side door. That would be like him being stationary and the other car moving 60MPH. But, that collision threw his car into the air and I could see it bent the entire car right around the dashboard or steering wheel line into a shallow U shape.
