I am aware that ‘cracker’ itself is akin to ‘redneck’.

I’ve witnessed, just for example, a black youth calling her two white friends Crackers in casual conversation, in public, as if it was the most ordinary thing in the world ... and they were not rednecks. Cracker may have once meant redneck but it’s usage seems to have widened considerably.
