When you need some mellowing...
another great Pat Simmons composition
Try this!...A Perfect Blend of symphonic and rock music....Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin....

More music like they don’t make no more....
FROM THE BEGINNING - Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP)
There’s an edge of creepiness in this tune (and a lot of others from back then). I’ve often wondered if that was the effect of the drugs....
Love it! Always have!!!
All Doobies pre-Michael McDonald is Classic!
All of the band members were on Romper Room where they met Mr
Do-Bee.
Listen to this version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4oZCtfmh44
I liked the first one more.
OH I loved it!!! Thanks!
Yes! Neal’s Fandango is a great song! When they added The Skunkster, it really beefed up their sound.
Yep, that’s my favorite, Sweet Maxine, Neal’s Fandango, Slat Key Soquel Rag, i Cheat the Hangman. They could rival Skynyrd in the Southern Rock department. Shocking their next album would be such a departure.
Yeah you can see Jeff in one of the still shots for the band
Good stuff - really like The Captain and Me
A girl at work in those days bought a Gary Wright 8-track for me - I traded it for “Stampede”. It was Secret Santa stuff - until you found out who the secret person was.
Tiran Porter is one of my “Bass Gods”, just a fantastic fat bass sound.
Watch Tiran Porter working that bass on “China Grove” on Musik Laden in 1974 (in the background - you get to see a little bit of Tiran’s finger playing style - left hand)
The lyrics are a little different and not as good as the radio version - you get to hear Tiran during the guitar solo - a bass run in there too
Looks like Hartmann on the left with Knutsen out of frame on the right except in a couple quick shots and at the very, very end for a half-sec
Patrick Simmons up front, of course with Tom Johnston

Speaking of Skunk Baxter, here he is on congas. I thought that might be J.D. Souther on guitar but some think it’s Andrew Gold.

And as long as we’re in the 1970’s - let’s get in some Paul McCartney and Wings with Jimmy McCullough and a great solo

Maybe 1974 too - so maybe McCartney was mad at Nixon for airlifting weapons to save Israel from destruction.
