Not sure of accuracy but if true, good news he was awake..

Daytona update: multiple reports indicate Ryan Newman was AWAKE when they were helping him out of the car and that he was rushed directly into the trauma center of the local hospital. Still praying! #NASCAR
Denny didn’t know anything.
No less than Sterling knew anything about anything.
It doesn’t make it any less tragic.
Try telling that to his family tonight.
Are you Bloombergs brother?
All the drivers, all the teams, all the officials agree to everything before one tire from a NASCAR vehicle hits pavement (or dirt.) If the people doing it, judging it, supporting it are good with bumps, I'm good too. Crazy or not, that's how they decided to go.
You are right.
I had a relative die in a car crash decades ago. I was looking at the pictures today of the wreck. Would have survived with today’s engineering.
It is because of restrictor plates. It is a device that prevents maximum speeds, so on a track like this everyone is bunched up. These cars could probably hit 220-230 MPH but NASCAR feels slower and bunched up is safer than faster and far apart.
That's what they call side drafting. The car disrupts the flow of air next to it and causes it to drag, slowing it down. This is opposed to regular drafting, where the cars line up so the lead car pushes the air and followers get sucked along.
They all do that all the time throughout the race.

Sterling Marlin took a lot of sh- for simply “taking the air off” Earnhardt’s car, which is far less than what happened here.
I think Gordon made a snide but very subtle remark about his behavior....or maybe it was one of the drivers.
Very well put.
The wise know how to appreciate peoples enjoyment for the sports of their choosing. I suspect you haven't any.
