Unfortunately, the state of Israel is just as anti-private gun ownership as any social democracy in Europe. Gun collecting is illegal, and only retiring IDF officers are permitted to purchase their sidearm.

Any Israeli seen toting a weapon is an IDF soldier or reservist carrying their issued weapon. Includes those armed bikini girls on the Haifa beach.

You’d think that Jews, of all people, would have enshrined the right to bear arms and the right to self defense, after the horror of the Holocaust and the presence of murderous Muslims in their very midst.

I lived in NYC during Bloomberg’s reign. He may be ethnically Jewish, but, as Kinky Friedman would say is a member of the “Church of Latter Day Businessmen.”
