We’re working through that now. In our case, our basement is probably our best bet. Turn off A/C, cover vent and put space heater in. If it’s warm enough I’d set up a tent and bed outside in the sun.

Toilet is a problem. Maybe a composing toilet? 5 gallon bucket and kitty litter? What I’ve seen them do for food in China is leave the food outside and leave, then the person opens the door to get the food. My son‘s old remote control cars might come in handy.

I’m thinking the master bedroom with attached bath. The tub doesn’t drain but can’t help that. It has cleaning supplies and meds and the linen closet has plenty of clean sheets and wash cloths. Need to put more tp in there.

AC and heat can be turned off.

Their clothes would need to be brought in and ours out.

There are plenty of windows. One window is on the porch so that would be used to deliver meals. I don’t like it on the porch and next to the back door but the other windows are too high and out of reach.

The door to the bedroom can have a sheet of plastic covering it to block drafts. Yeah, going Wuhan and sealing them in. Also, have one of those door drafts for under the door (every little bit helps).

Would need to move in a computer. There’s a chair but no room for a computer table. Maybe they could dump books from the bookcase. Will think on this.

There’s a phone in the bedroom and the bathroom. There’s a bookcase but would add more books. Will add playing cards and a “Hoyle’s”, paper and pencils, a spare ceiling light bulb, there’s a battery charger and a couple flashlights but will add more batteries today. Need to see if there’s any old electronic games around. There’s plenty of candles but need to arrange a safe place for matches.

Thinking the garbage could be a problem.

What else?

I was talking with some elderly neighbors about all the people in quarantine.

“Yeah - we’ve been in quarantine twice. But not like those Chinese.”

Once was for hepatitis, and the other for mumps? Measles??

Of course it wasn’t a whole town, so the kids that weren’t affected went to live with relatives. Relatives and neighbors brought them food and meals. The doctor came over every so often to monitor them.

But that is all doable when it is just ten families in a school that have to be isolated for a few weeks.
