After Iowa caucus problems, concerns grow over Nevada’s plan

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Concerns have been growing that next week’s Nevada caucuses could offer a repeat of the chaos that ensnared the Iowa vote, with Nevada facing many of the same organizational and technical challenges that crippled Iowa’s process.

Volunteers who will be leading the Feb. 22 caucuses said key information had yet to be shared. There has been no hands-on training with iPads being deployed to caucus sites on Election Day nor opportunities to try out a new “tool” that will be loaded onto the iPads and used during the caucus process.

Adding to the mix is that Nevada also plans to offer early voting, a complicated step that Iowa did not attempt. That has prompted some confusion about how early voters would be included in the multistage caucus process.

“This sounds just dangerous, like people are still improvising and making up the rules as they go,” said Doug Jones, a University of Iowa computer scientist and expert on voting technology. “How do they expect to get training done for all the people doing these caucuses?”

“voting in general”

Iowa was a test run of the app to see how far the Dem can cheat their way to victory through back doors to electronic systems, IMHO.

Odd. Betting with in app in Vegas occurs a gazillion times a day without a hitch. Maybe the RATS could have the MGM show ‘em how it’s done.

it’s a complete farce, but Bernie won’t fight back:

9 Feb: Las Vegas Review Journal: Nevada Democratic Party’s hiring of Buttigieg ex-staffer raises concerns
By Rory Appleton
The hiring of a top presidential candidate’s staff member to a position within the Nevada Democratic Party has increased scrutiny of the party as it works to put together a contingency plan for its Feb. 22 caucuses.
Dozens of Twitter users — most identified as supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders — on Sunday accused the Democratic Party of corruption and hurled insults at Emily Goldman, who was hired as the party’s voter protection director in January. Many called for Goldman and Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez to be fired.

Screenshots of Goldman’s LinkedIn account noted she worked as an Iowa organizer for former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg until February, when she began her new role with the Nevada Democratic Party.
Goldman, who has since switched her social media accounts to private settings, is no longer employed by or affiliated with the Buttigieg campaign...
The party revealed Tuesday it was abandoning two apps it had developed by Shadow Inc...

I met somebody who works on gambling apps for Vegas. He said the code and test reviews are frequent and intense.
