Yup, how do you stop pitchers faking injury or soreness? Make them go on the IL for 15 days? How does it work, you have to let a pitcher throw 12 balls to load the bases before you can yank him? I have heard about this for a while, seems like they aren’t doing a good job of explaining how they envision it working.

Simple — you don’t pitch within 20 seconds, it’s a ball. (Maybe if they really want to make pitchers pitch, call a balk.)

If the batter steps out, it’s a strike. Maybe you get once, to get the signs from teh third base coach, but after that, definitely call a strike.

The pitcher could just throw at the batters until the umpire threw them out of the game!

“I can no longer sit through 4-hour games...it’s absurd.”

Any good game during the regular season is under 3 hours.

Trust that axiom.

So if he comes in a the start of an inning, the pitcher has to throw 12 balls to the backstop before you can yank him?

The game of baseball as we know it is pretty much dead.

Limit the number of pitchers a team can carry to 9. Problem solved.

Keep monkeying with the game and make it just like football, where 15 seconds of play takes ten minutes to complete. Leave it alone!
Actually, this will speed the game up, not slow it down.

They keep trying to take the managers out of the game and that’s just wrong.

The reason modern teams make a million pitching changes is because it works on average. Seems to me if you limit pitching changes, runs will then increase and in baseball that generally means longer games.

I’d be happy if they did away with the designated hitter rule. I prefer the NL game with a pitcher batting.
………………………………………………………………………………………..

Do you know which A.L. pitcher is also his team’s D.H.? He pitches in the regular rotation, one game out of five and does not bat in games he pitches but does bat the other four games.

Japanese guy, I can’t remember his name or team.

Three batters or the end of an inning. Hopefully, he’s good enough to get three outs.

This change discriminates against NL teams. They will often be forced to have a reliever come to bat instead of being lifted for a PH. The AL still has the DH.

Good news: “a three-batter minimum.”

About time. And the person who complains about the stealing of signs has probably not played much baseball. Signs and stealing them are part of the fun. Signs were started for deaf players in the 1910’s.

“...a 5 second delay on all TV Cameras...”

That has been in effect already for many years.

I hadn't thought of that effect. On average, though, I wonder if the time it takes to change pitchers (5-7 minutes?) outweighs the lengthening of the game due to additional runs. It will be interesting to see. I know MLB has been keen on shortening the game, and they've made some boneheaded moves to do it, like not making the pitcher throw 4 balls for an intentional walk. This one, though, has potential to actually do it. But I hadn't thought of the potential effect of more runs. Just goes to show that the Law of Unintended Consequences is still in force.

I guess we will have to see how it works in practice. I get that the game needs to flow much more speedily but I wonder if it will have much impact on length of games at all, but it might keep the action going on the field longer. Still I don’t want that if it takes away from strategy and you end up with crazy stuff like a pitcher not having it that particular night and walking the bases full in an important game down the stretch.

We will have to see how it works, it could work as intended I guess. But I bet it doesn’t shorten games all that much, because presumably innings will last longer as more players reach base. It might increase the action on the field, but that will just take longer.

If the Stros was using another camera that didn’t have a delay then ban those camera or implement a 5 second delay on those also better though that MLB control all cameras and angles
