Goodbye indeed. Wait until someone says, “There is no gay gene,” and is fined or arrested despite the fact that it is true. Wait until some priest or minister says, “Homosexual acts are a sin.” Who is to say what is hate speech?

Finally, there is no such thing as “homophobia.” Is that hate speech?
Phobia mean fear. I doubt anyone fears gays. Some just don’t approve. There needs to be a more accurate word than homophobia.
Scientifically/medically speaking, you can’t legislate “fear” or a “phobia”. That would be like make feelings illegal. Did Sweden make it illegal to be angry, or sad? No. Did they REALLY make illegal to have a “phobia” or be “afraid” of something?
I don’t know about legislating feelings. But people should should be afraid of it.
