I don’t think this is a “slide”.
I am going to be a poll worker this year in our tiny precinct. I did this years ago (think Bush/Kerry). We had a paper printout of voters to mark off, and paper ballots - one machine, and on a typical day we’d have just below 300 voters.
Yesterday we had to take a class on the new procedures. Lots of stuff that was new to me, one of which was the style of paper ballots. They are made from the same kind of paper that money is printed on and instructor said very difficult to duplicate.
Don’t know if that is even relevant nationally but I thought it was interesting.
On the other hand, there is a memory stick which is supposed to balance with the paper ballot balance count. That seems a bit iffy to me.
Quality of Elections and votes is under DHS now, so duplication and dead people voting as well as things that happened in Iowa with Systems integrity are getting really tight. Just because the system tells “you” who you voted for when it aggregates upstream algorithms can do “magic” things and shuffle the deck
Manufacturing votes is I believe another aspect this is targeting, there are things embedded in the paper that like US Currency Bills have to prevent Counterfeiting.
Think “we just found a box of ballots” and aww shucks they are all for the Dem rep etc
Other moves and counter moves I see are the clamp down on Illegals Voting and using Drivers licenses to do so. Trumps move to stop this in another form is to say OK NY you can do this but since you are tacitly/overtly allowing illegal activity you cannot freely travel or do anything outside your criminal enterprise zone (State of NY)
Next steps will be if you are using a Drivers License they issue and are pulled over in another state you are an unlicensed driver and subject to arrest and penalties associated
California and others will suffer the same consequences as You can play in your own state but others states do not.
Interesting times, the screws are being tightened in more areas than we know
