I was thinking more of plugging the vents with towels an the like, especially the vent that blows into the room.

They should isolate the remaining passengers at military bases, tents, etc. Remove the circulating air as a potential source of infection Doesn't Texas have a bunch of military bases and tents?
Or is it only OK if it's nowhere near you, hmmmm?

The hospitals are stuffed with flu cases. The folks on those ships could be flown to the ski resorts on the Rockies, though. ;)

Oh, I know. They could all be moved to tents on Galveston and Padre, or Garner St. Park. ;)

I really don’t get your point? The ship is in Japanese waters. If Japan wants to keep everyone on the ship and take patients to the hospital as they become infected with circulating air, it is their decision.
Flying the patients to Texas is a stupid analogy.
Japan could have FEWER cases if they get people off the ship and into proper isolation.

“I dont think so. Just bleach it down and wait 30 days.”
You may well be right. But would you book a cruise on the Diamond Princess? Perhaps if they rename her and wait a couple of years...

Nah, they’ll rename it from “Diamond Princess” to “Diamond Prince” and sell out. Nobody will ever catch on.
To: LilFarmer
Geez, it’s almost Valentine’s Day and it’s usually “Love is in the air.” It’s a whole different story in 2020.
To: SpeedyInTexas
Keeping them on that ship is criminal.
Quarantine is fine but not getting them off there is a death sentence

Much better to risk the entire population of Japan, eh?

That’s the dumbest idea i’ve see posted on FR all year
To: SpeedyInTexas
If the ship was docked in Galveston, say it was Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas, would you want all the passengers moved to Houston? Houston has some very fine hospitals, and I’m certain no passenger would DARE infect a Texan.
If it’s YOUR back yard why should that bother you more that Yokohama’s backyard?
Perhaps Houston is a bad example given it’s high, ummm, urban population?

This ship is sinking, fast.
Bring in several medic ships.
Past due.
How crazy was this stupid experiment?

Probably. I’m not clever enough to think of it at the moment. Sometimes even the best available option sucks.
