Saw the trailer when I went to see 1917. I don’t have enough adjectives to describe how awful it looked.
When will Hollywood end the era of CGI-heavy comic book movies and make some that actually tell a story? Other than 1917, the last two moves we went to see had the F-word in the first two minutes and went down hill from there. One even had children in the scene - which caused me to ask my wife, “What parent would willingly allow their kids to a part of that, regardless of the money involved?”
Well they did put it in the February dump zone. This is where they put movies they don’t expect to make bank.
It’s R-rated almost entirely for language. There’s no sex stuff. The violence could easily have been made to PG-13 rated and it’d have made a ton more money.
Meh.
The comic it was based on had a line up with some DC heavy hitters throughout most of its run, and I would assert that using the “Birds of Prey” Name without the associated characters crippled the box office performance because long time comics readers largely panned it.
Trailers made the movie look stupid and ugly.
So I didn’t go.
Even though I think Margot Robbie is smokin’ hot and a good actress.
films that have struggled at the box office or didnt fully pop out (Atomic Blonde, The Rhythm Section, Alita: Battle Angel),,,,,
Never heard of Atomic Blonde until it was on cable. It was OK. This is the first I’ve heard of Rhythm Section.
Never heard of Alita, until I saw it on a plane coming back from the west coast. Great movie, bought the DVD. Hope they make a sequel.
