Also the flu related deaths in the US were highest in the 85+ age group. CV is killing people in ALL age groups, including (apparently healthy) doctors in their 30s.

It would take a pretty substantial additional insertion of HIV RNA or other necrotizing and/or hemorrhagic genetic material into coronavirus to cause extensive bleeding sores. The CoV is more specialized at screwing up the alveoli.

As of 2/9 7pm EST, actual cases and deaths are significantly overshooting an earlier model predicting doubling every 7 days: Week 15 from Patient Zero: 32,768 vs. 40,128 and 737 vs. 906.

I’m sure. The same will be true for everyone trying to prepare, I’m sure! My son bought a couple cases of canned food and I had to remind him to buy a can opener :-)

This article is from yesterday, my apologies if it has already been posted.

China finally accepts help in battle against coronavirus — after 35,000 infected

With some 35,000 stricken within its borders and the death-toll spiraling, a desperate China is finally accepting help in battling the coronavirus — after rebuffing offers from the US and others for weeks.

China has agreed to let the World Health Organization form an international team of experts that will travel to the mainland to study the virus and seek solutions, a US embassy spokesman told Reuters on Saturday.

Infectious disease experts from the United States will play a major role.

“These US experts have extensive experience working with the World Health Organization on a range of infectious disease outbreaks and epidemics, including Ebola, avian influenza and SARS,” the spokesman added.

This is fascinating and just horrifying. When his wife says those people will never be seen again...

And we let them manufacture over 80% of our DRUGS.

China took tiny economic hit from an extra week off for their New Years holiday.
It will take significant hit for another week.
Westerners will move their investments and production to more reliable places to do business.

So China has to show irrefutable evidence to the world’s businesses that this is under control.

That’s why WHO is let in now. China has no choice.

I’m very interested to see what production activity is resumed tonight!

There will be a time lag of however long it takes for a ship to leave China, cross the Pacific, and dock.

Japanese firms affected by coronavirus outbreak
The coronavirus outbreak is increasingly weighing on Japanese companies that do business in China.

Toyota Motor has decided to further postpone the resumption of operations at its factories in four cities, including Tianjin and Guangzhou. They will remain closed at least until February16 .

Honda Motor says it will postpone the re-opening of its plant in Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak, at least until the week of February 17. The automaker previously said it planned to re-start production on or after Friday.

Mitsubishi Motors also postponed the reopening of its factory in Fuzhou till the week of February 17.

Cosmetic maker Shiseido’s factories in Beijing and Shanghai will remain closed till February 17, while confectionery maker Ezaki Glico will keep its factory in Shanghai closed till Tuesday.

Of course it’s a lower mortality rate than 2019nCoV, even at 2%.
But when people see a number like 900 dead, it sounds very high. When in reality 13,000 people a month died just a short time ago and no one even noticed. SO it’s posted for some perspective, nothing more.

I saw an article on ZeroHedge, or on Bloomberg, that some particular large shipping rate was down by (yes, I read it right) 99.95%. Besides BDRY, is there any other ETF or any tradable instrument which tracks the shipping rates, which has taken a similar hit? (BDRY dropped by ~50% since min-January when I checked).

But if I can find an index that's down 99% or more...

Katy back up the truck: if it only goes back to 10% of what it was, you know..that'd help the old retirement fund, bigly.

...how hard to slip in rabies or coronavirus or...God konws what, into our saline drips?

Recall that Cardinal Health had to recall, (hand-waving) a couple million surgical gowns made in China because they weren't sterile...

The Free Traitors..and everyone who EVER worked for McKinsey (who also pushed GE) should be whipped, drawn and quartered, hung, disemboweled, burned at the stake, and then REALLY hurt.

My in laws have been told to stay home and not return to work until further notice - and that’s in Shanghai. Guangdong and Zhejiang also are restricting work dramatically. Shenzhen and Guangzhou are extremely important to their industrial output in that province.

PLAN shipbuilding has been ceased.

The only commercial transport allowed is for food and some fuel.
